Was Golesh the "secret sauce" to the Heupel offense?

Incorrect.. It's a system problem. Teams have caught on to what we run. It's not that hard to see. Nothing has changed and we've become too predictable. When was the last time we had a chance to put the game away and couldn't do it. All we needed was a 1st down and couldn't get it. Nico is NOT the problem. It's the Oline and Defensive Coach's know what's coming. CJH needs to adjust or bring in an OC that can bring something new to the offense. Simple as that. Plus have an Oline Coach that can develop his Online and a WR Coach that can recruit and teach his WR's how to get open and catch the ball.
The offense isn't the real offense because we cannot go fast. It is plain as day to see. The system has been the same since UCF, the SEC defensive coaches had plenty of tape in 2022 and could not stop it, WHY? Because we went fast. I dont care if we run the same 5 plays, if we run them at supersonic speed like we did in 2022, they can not even get lined up, much less call a blitz or coverage.

Yep. They'll figure any offense out. Heupel either adjusts or gets fired.
we do not need to adjust, we need a QB who can run the offense.

2022 SEC coaches had UCF tape of the same offense. Are you saying they needed UT tape to figure it out?

What UGA and OU did to Heupel, Tulsa did first. He's yet to figure out a counter move. Teams will continue to play light in the box and force Heupel to go the distance. Better have a helluva line and RB or I wouldn't expect a lot of success against the big boys in this league.

Being disrespectful to Hyatt stretching the field. He made a lot of people look good…Bru, Tillman, Fant, Wright and Hooker. Hooker was a game manager who benefited from 3 NFL players making plays.
Game managers don't get drafted as high as hooker did. Hooker was accurate, smart, could read defenses, knew when to run, and didn't throw picks.

The exact kind of QB we need to run the offense FAST!!

So Bama isn't a big boy in this league? We have beat them.2 of the last 3

Comparison is more valid until Nico has 3 seasons under his belt
Fair point, but the premise of Nico needing to read things faster so we can go at warp speed still remains.

Going fast is the key to our offense, when we slow down we are average and predictable. Get us a QB who can read and throw, and a sure handed speed guy and we will be back to the 2022 look

Slowing it down also means we should run more motion and install new play packages. I can promise you Heupel already knows it and was limited by his lack of confidence in Nico pulling it off

Come on people, think for a sec and get over the hate for our coaches . Why did we struggle to stop Spurrier? We knew his offense, knew his sets, knew what he was trying to do....and still could not stop it. And had good defenses those years as well.

He had a SYSTEM QB, That ran his system. We need Nico to be like those guys. The UF QB that beat our asses never did anything in the NFL because they only ran Spurriers offense.

Installing more motion and other plays is abandoning his system. Nico has to learn to go faster. Main issues with a RS Freshman QB.

Think of it this way. Those of us who are 45 or older will understand.

if your parents bought you a car at 16 and it was a manual, they didnt go get you an automatic until you learned to drive the manual, because you would never learn to drive the manual. They taught you to drive the manual, put a couple of clutches in it and you were off.......

now you have the absolute best theft deterrent system in the world. Anyone who is over 45 isnt really stealing cars, and anyone under 45 cant drive it.

Georgia, SC last year and OSU this year have all commented that our formation and down dictate play selection. They knew what we were running and all manhandled us. We’re way too predictable and the offense is not novel anymore. It isn’t the loss of Golesh. Heupel called the plays then and now.
We have beaten Bama twice. We have beaten SC last year, we have beaten teams who have three years of tape on us and cant stop us? How? Because we have better players than they do, our players beat their players regardless if they know what is coming. UGA and OSU had players who beat our guys.

Don't think it's as much Golesh as Pruitt's recruits. Gonna say it again...I don't trust this staffs ability to evaluate and develop talent. Same for schemes and making gameday adjustments.
I stopped thinking about "gameday adjustments" or halftime adjustments" when the sheriff said teams dont make them. he said we eat a couple oranges, take a leak, and get ready to go back onto the field. It does make sense, why would you want to start doing something at half time that you have not practiced all week.

To everyone in this thread! I hope you all have a great holiday tomorrow and thanks for this thread. Most threads on the site lately have been terribly negative and rude, but this thread has been a pleasure as the conversation is what a football forum is supposed to be like.

Know D had alot to do with gameplanning this year. Plus JH knew he had new qb, so went generally more conservative. Not saying he doesn’t have to step it up on OL/WR talent and work on scheme, but they did just win 10 games with most all JH recruits. It’s a team sport so to me, however we get 10 wins is fine w me. If strong D is something to depend upon every year, that’s a good foundation, while figuring everything else out…just like Barnes in bball.

its cause every time i have ever seen a deep ball thrown by the vols (edit: "this year" for the brainlets) i know for a fact it wont land in our receivers arms

its like nico has a 5% chance of being accurate deep,
then our receivers have another 5% chance of catching his accurate passes
so it is basically a lottery winner when we do so and I use the remote control to go back 15 seconds and record those plays with my phone because it feels special

you must not have watched Peyton, Ainge, Clausen, Tee Martin, Dobbs, or Hendon Hooker throw it.......Hell you could even add Tyler Bray to that list....that dude could sling it around but was a mental case and had no defense whatsoever.
