Wazzu coach fired for failing to get vaccinated.

So, a construction company should not be able to require tetanus vaccines for folks on a work site?

And for what it's worth, the NCAA played no role in WSU's mandate or the decision to fire Rolovich.
A construction company is a private entity. The rules for a public university can be very different.

He wasn't forced to take the vaccine. He could get vaccinated or not work there... his choice. They give him the choice to wear pants or not work there, not be abusive to minorities or not work there, show up and coach on Saturdays or not work there. All his choice.
This is a prime example why discussion here is pointless. You're making statements as if I've offered the counter. I haven't. You've built a straw man of "choice" which I never argued. And you're absurd with the "pants" and "minorities" bit.

Vaccinating him doesnt offer protection to his players. Its simply a top-down, bureaucratic rule which is now an onerous burden the coach must face.

Not to mention, there is choice and there is coercion.

Ok a tetanus shot is required by an industry, my bad. Outside of that I’ve not heard of employers mandating any other health requirements as a condition of employment. In this case it just happens to be the Covid vaccine.

I’m not keen on the government requiring a Covid vaccine, but public schools require child immunizations to attend school. If parents don’t agree, they home school.

A job is not a constitutional right, so they aren’t forcing anyone to get the vaccine. You just go work somewhere else.

Again, I’m not really in favor of it in the government sector, but I’m just telling you the legal issues.

My main issues are not about the vaccine in and of itself either.

My issues are

1. In a "divided country", this isn't the way to go about this. At some point, you have to restore faith in institutions. These actions are more likely to cause people to dig in further and have greater distrust of government, power, etc.

2. to piggyback off #1 (And it's been happening for well over a decade now if not even into the Bush administration), at some point in time the government has to actually write and pass laws. The executive order crap is not the way to run a country. What has happened is that when the President's party is in control of Congress, Congress has totally abdicated its power to avoid putting its fingerprints on anything. It's not good.

3. There are reasonable questions about COVID and how we have handled it and reason to be skeptical whether some people want to admit it or not. More people have died in 2021 than in 2020. We still have 2.5 months to go in 2021. Yet, we're not shutting the country down. Why are we not shutting things down like we were before if the numbers are worse? Why are the numbers worse despite over half the country receiving the vaccine? Why are numbers worse in the United States than in a lot of other countries that don't or haven't had access to the vaccine? There are several others. But, most especially, if those who are unvaccinated are the ones suffering the consequences of this, then let them pay for their choice.

Comparing a shot that was developed before DNA was discovered, before there was a man on the moon, before antibiotics, before seatbelts, before cholesterol and cigarettes were known to be bad with one developed with all the luxury of modern science...hmm. And... where do you think the tetanus vaccine is manufactured?
Yeah without long term documentation to see what it is going to do to you 10 year down the road. Until it is proven to not have long term health problems I will pass.

Probably best

It does protect his players

But seatbelts kill so….

Turtles all the way down...

Hepatitis B vaccine is required for health care workers and many others. Tuberculosis testing is required by many industries. Daycare workers are required to meet certain health requirements. Anyone in a transportation industry must meet certain vision standards. Commercial airline pilots cannot have known coronary disease and must be tested and proven to be so. Truckers cannot have Type 1 diabetes and those with Type 2 diabetes cannot be treated with insulin. Teachers have to be declared free of infectious diseases for employment. The mining industry requires, among other things, pulmonary function testing to meet certain standards as a condition of employment. Police and firefighters have to pass a physical (a measure of health) as a condition of employment.

So...

Yeah without long term documentation to see what it is going to do to you 10 year down the road. Until it is proven to not have long term health problems I will pass.

It does have long term health effects. It decreases the chance of infection and death from Covid...long term.

So In your opinion nothing is worth more than money? Im confused.

I got it but I think it should be a choice. No one should use a job to force someone to get it.
I agree and disagree with above. Having been in health care for 40 years I truly feel that all involved in direct patient care should use all means available to protect not only themselves but their patients as well. The vaccine is one of those means. What bothers me most is that those, that should be science oriented, place their political views and stances above the welfare of those in their charge.
