That being the GOP.reps and senators thoughts, let us bring back the Tennessee "blue"laws. For those who are not familiar with head-on of which was.you could buy toothpaste on Sunday, but, you could not buy toothbrushes because that would constitute work(the act of brushing your teeth). How heinous is that!Oh, the humanity!

Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas are more conservative than Tennessee.

Texas isn’t. It gets a right wing reputation because they love the death penalty. But Austin is basically Berkeley with good BBQ and they actually almost elected Beto to the Senate.

With the cancel culture running amok and Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter COMPLETELY censoring every word used on those mediums and we are offended by a possible rule requiring people to stand during the anthem? Just wait....I'll check back to see if we're still offended after what's coming down the pike...and if you don't know what's coming...then you are completely out of touch.....we are in for a ride unlike our country has seen....so if you want to take up someone's offense....you will have many many chances over the next four years....

I get where you're coming from and it makes sense. Just seems we might be better off doing away with this tradition.
I think the problem isn't that the idea (coming together for the Anthem before the game) no longer makes sense.

I think the problem is that our generation kind of assumed the younger generation would somehow by osmosis know how valuable a symbol the flag was...we failed to really teach them that lesson, the one about national values, liberty and sacrifice and honor and integrity and courage. We failed, we older folks did, because we neglected to teach them all that before they headed off to college to be indoctrinated by the neo-Marxists in the English, Psychology, and Specialized Studies departments of our local colleges and universities.

Our bad. We gotta somehow do right by them. And taking away the Anthem isn't it.

...and then a MOD, whomever, doesn't matter, moves this discussion to the political forum, which puts it in a location that minimizes views and discussion. That's part of our problem. We seek to censure an open discussion which limits exchange of views, stifling common ground, and only exacerbating the problem. Until we reached shared understanding, it will always be "us against them".

Yes, we are doomed if our future generations are not patriotic enough to stand for the flag, then defense of our nation is indeed doomed. I too served, missed my family, and saw combat. I love our country and would do it all over again.

“5. We stand for the flag not for our generation but to set an example for the next generation.
“If we do not advocate a love of country to our children and the generations to come, then why would our children grow up to fight for their countries, the founding principles and moral truths?” Melania Trump asked in a recent speech to the United Nations. Passing along patriotism is crucial to the future survival of America. The color of white in the flag symbolizes the purity and innocence of our children.”
5 reasons we stand for the flag
No, f^*k a flag. Military takes an oath to uphold and protect the Constitution. Who cares about a damn flag if we don't have civil liberties?

No, It crushes nothing. I am principled enough to know where I stand and you're sophomoric reply to my post doesn't change how I will deal with athletes that kneel.

How did this even start? I mean the whole premise behind Kapernicks kneeling has been debunked

It’s now evolved where ESPN runs 7 stories about it a week. They paint all those who kneel as conquering heroes (not entirely true)and they treat everyone who is opposed to kneeling as toothless KKK members (even less true). The short answer to why this is still an issue.... ESPN.

Stop playing the anthem is the answer, take the platform away from these idiot SJW wannabes
That’s what they want. Take away any semblance of unity. No flag, no anthem. Every institution and part of the Bill of Rights is besieged by this nonsense. It does not stop no matter what concessions are made for the sake of “inclusion.”
