We'll Find Out Next Year How Much Real Support The Basketball Program Has.

When was the last time UT averaged 8,000 or fewer?

You gotta be kidding me...during buzz's final year during the 4 or 5 games i attended there couldnt have been more than 6 or 7k at any game. I could care less tickets sold Im talkin butts in seats. You see something different?

Anyone choosing to continue this discussion needs to do so without name calling.

You'd be surprised how many people are laughing at you now. You seem to operate under the same delusion that many of Pearl's ardent supporters did. There are plenty of people on this board who can clue you in to how much I really speculate. Just because you were some second rate hack in the AAU sewer in Memphis doesn't make you connected. It makes you a former second rate hack in an AAU sewer. You really don't want to go down this road.

Shaking in my boots about that road you speak of.
Laugh away. Your % of accuracy just dipped back down to it's normal 10%. But why not? Just throw a bunch of stuff on the wall and see what sticks. When you get called out, start the namecalling. I'll pull my 8 yr old on here one night and you guys can go at it. He told me he finished a test before everybody the other day too, of course, 8 yr olds brag about that type of thing.

I was at many games during Buzz's tenure. The only game that had that few that I've been to was the Georgetown NIT game.

That was a classic. Buzz v. Craig Escherick. The basketball equivalent of a singing contest between Eddie Murphy and Don Johnson.

I really felt bad that Ron Slay had to be sent out that way. It was about as electric as a church league game.

Coach Pearl did an outstanding job Puting UT basketball on the map. and everyone jumped on the basketball is great bandwagon. But IMO if things go south in a couple of years, TBA will be a ghost town again like it was when I was growing up. I hope coach Martin does well. If not people will only see it as football season dead period entertainment.

That crowd did, however, look massive in comparison to the turnout for the UAB game in the NIT during Houston's tenure.

That team was done when Higgins was ruled ineligible. Coalfield High would have beaten them at that point.

Yep. That was about the ugliest game I've ever seen. Georgetown had some post, (Sweetney maybe?), that did well in that game. I think he made the League as well and may still be there.

It was Sweeney along with some no name who stepped up.

Not at all. I'm talking about the people who think UT started playing basketball in the Fall of 2005. They'll all be gone now and I won't miss them one damn bit. In fact, I hope they vacate the state and move to Northwest Florida with Forbes to wait for Pearl's return.

They actually had a team before 05? I thought when people said that it was sarcasm.

I think that fans will show up unless our Vols prove to be unwatchable. They were there for Bruce's first game against ETSU. I expect them to show up as long as we look like a tourney team. Still much to be determined i.e. people coming back.

i went to a dozen games a year before pearl came and i went to all but 3 his first year then eight ans the number of games declined the last game i was at was the kentucky game when grunfield jersey was retired ,and it got to were the only seats i could get were in the last two or three rows and like another poster ,i would rather watch my 52 inch hd sony ,better veiw and dont have to put up with fans from other teams

Well before Bruce and the bodypainting incident, Hat hated him. It starts with Deon Thomas telling Bruce that he really wanted to go to Iowa but the money from Illinois was just too good. Hat thinks that it is okay to be a huge cheater and to lie to the NCAA (see his love for Jim Calhoun and Lute Olson) but it is never okay to snitch and pathetic to get caught lying.

He also was/is personally jealous of the man and used to post about watching Pearl cavort with waitresses.

The board has turned for the good, as even his staunchest defenders (there were 4 or 5) have gotten tired of his stick with one exception (a guy who changed his name after his brilliance created my signature).

Thanks...kinda figured he's been hating on coach Pearl since he's been here.I guess the way everything went down felt like a christmas to him. What I dont get is the perverse joy he gets from seeing how the whole thing devestated alot of UT fans.Coach Pearl did great things for our baskettball program,UT,and Knoxville in general.

Hated to see it end like it did.

Merry christmas hat.

The Pearlophiles and The Go To The Game To Be Seen Crowd will be long gone. The frontrunners will be nowhere to be found. The crowds will now consist of people who actually care about and support the program, not some clown in body paint. It'll be a welcome change.

Probably one of the most arrogant post i've read here. I guess you are rejoicing in finally being right.

I remember the week before making a road trip to vandy and slay hit a long three down the stretch... Drove back thinking we were NCAA bound. Then the Higgins news.

Not at all what I'm saying. I, unlike the Pearl As Messiah crowd, believe in Tennessee basketball. The idiot fringe and trash worshippers I'm talking about will ultimately be replaced by people who actually care about the program. That will happen far quicker than most anticipate. I'm just saying I'm glad the phonies, the clueless, and the Cult Of Pearl won't be around anymore.

So there are thousands of people that care about Tennessee basketball who didn't show up in the Pearl era who will replace the so called trash? If they cared about UT basketball wouldn't they have been there all along.

What an idiotic post.
