We'll Find Out Next Year How Much Real Support The Basketball Program Has.

Entertainment value

True. But I've yet to see a post from him that doesn't attempt to call Hat, myself or others out. If that happens with majority of other posters then they get the ban hammer eventually. Maybe it's Freak?

Kidding of course, Freak.

the basketball program is a simple as the football program. if we win, people will show up. if we are mediocre, attendance will drop.

So now not only are there teacup parties in MHF's pretend world, he also gets credit for me changing my name?

How is this guy still around? Can a mod answer that for me.

One could ask the same as to why Hat is allowed to continue his spew.

So there are thousands of people that care about Tennessee basketball who didn't show up in the Pearl era who will replace the so called trash? If they cared about UT basketball wouldn't they have been there all along.

What an idiotic post.

Yet another poster who might want to look at UT's attendance figures over the last 40 years. Oh, wait. That requires taking time away from the group wailing about Pearl's firing.

I have said for a long time that firing him was the right thing to do. You are the one saying that a portion of the fanbase was replaced during Pearls era with a different section and the replaced portion will suddenly reappear.

So, let's get this straight. The people that really loved UT basketball couldn't get tickets because of the commoners. Now that Pearl is gone, the real UT basketball lovers will resurface.

Dang Tennessee for hiring a likeable coach in Pearl. I hope that Coach Martin is an A-hole so that no one goes to the games because they just like the coach. Maybe every school should hire coaches that no one likes, that way we will know who the real basketball fans are... And while they are at it, they should recruit players that are A-holes too. We would really know who they true fans were then. It is crazy to like a team just because you like the people who are on the team and the people who coach the team.

I think I detect a wee bit of sarcasm.:)

Stunning. A hat thread espousing his basketball snobbery, littered throughout with the requisite posts telling people how stupid they are compared to him and his little fanboys ready to jump to his defense. Sort of like the sun coming up each day.

I'm still wondering why it's better to have less people coming to the games, much less where these supposed hordes of people simply coming to watch Pearl coach came from.

Once you get the "I Luv Controlled Kaos!!!"/"Brooce Iz Awsum" crowd out of the building, the vast majority of the people left will be those who understand the game well enough to know better.

I see your point, but whether YOU think so or not, it's perfectly ok for people who don't understand the game as well as others to go and support the Vols

I agree. But it's like golf. Anyone is welcome to play it. But if you're an 18 handicap, don't expect a scratch to take your advice and expertise serious. In fact, be prepared to get laughed at.

We may see the day when we wish we could have someone like CBP to "pack em in"....Your slanted opinion personally makes no sense...to have your satisfaction of being right...just guessing here but I'd bet that's just pretty important to you....we will need an empty tomb next season....Man, do I ever hope you're wrong...if they don't turn out...that speaks volumes about CBP....if they do....status quo...either way...you lose....
:eek:lol:

With all due respect to the Hat, it's the most important thing to him

Considering I'm an incoming freshman, I'll be there at every game unless something extreme happens. I've been waiting for the opportunity to attend UT for my entire life (because I live 2.5 hours away, I've only been able to go to a few basketball games), so I'm not going to pass up free basketball, win or lose. Plus, I think this season will be a bit more enjoyable than most think. We'll be able to see what this program has to do to get back to the top.

Golf huh...
Dont hook.
Dont slice.
Golf is not a water sport nor should it EVER be played in the beach.
A golfcart is not intended to be a four wheeler....but is a viable beer carrier.

Do I sound more like an 18 or scratch?

I don't get the analogy and I'm a scratch

Then how would you feel listening to a new golfer explain to you the moving parts of a golf swing? Keep in mind this person is telling you that you suck, you don't understand the game and no one can play as well as they do.

Now apply that to the Pearl lovers that we've had to listen to for the past few years.

I'll admit I started following Tennessee much closer in 2005, but that's more to do with the fact that I wouldn't ever be able to see them on TV until they started improving and playing some good teams. It's not all that fun trying to track a 14-17 team on the internet but I tired to keep up as much as I could, and I definitely don't consider myself a bandwagon fan.

I'd rather have a bunch of stupid people at the game with a full arena than have a lot of empty seats. That being said, it would be nice to be rid of fans who act like Bruce Pearl is the only good thing that has ever happened or will happen for Tennessee basketball, and like it or not, there seem to be a lot of those people. I don't want them to leave the fan base or anything like that. I just hope Martin has enough success for them to realize that there simply can be much more to Vols basketball than Controlled Chaos and some upset victories.

At the risk of being called a hat follower, I certainly understand his dislike for some of the fans. I think he's gone too far with some his comments, but he has obviously been a huge Vols fan and a huge basketball fan for a long time. I can't imagine he's thrilled about having Vols fans slam the Tennessee basketball program and history to prop up a coach he doesn't like for multiple reasons. Especially when a lot of those fans hadn't been paying attention until recently.

I believe you are overstating the effects of the so called Pearl lovers. It's not nearly as bad as you say.

From what I know about Hat, he's never played any competitive ball outside of high school.

Still not a good analogy

You don't have to play sports to know every detail. Not saying that. Golfers know more about the game in general than non-golfers. You can't deny that.

The point was there were a bunch of folks that couldn't tell the difference between a basketball and a beach ball trying to pretend they knew every thing to be known about the game. That's frustrating as piss to listen to that garbage.

Wait, you mean contolled chaos wasn't simply a facsimile of Tark's UNLV teams melded with some 40 Minutes of Hell? That's crazy talk.

That and dunks followed by salutes were the keys to winning championships.

Very few percentage wise. My point is that shouldn't bother someone that knows better
