We're Not Young...

If the game is at all close tonight, it will be a huge feather in the cap of Coach Jones. At the end of the year, I want him to look like an Ostrich is sitting on his head.

funny how you said this earlier in the day then when the game turns out to be a 3 point loss you still blast the coaches.... bipolar or drunk??

Here's the truth whether or not you want to accept is the real story.

The Vols are inexcusably young and thin because of Dooley.

Had Worley not missed 3 or 4 drives the Vols win by 7-10 points IMO.

Georgia has best RB in country and possibly the best entire backfield.

Here's proof of UTs "thinness": -Worley goes down, Vols have no one.
-Hurd has taken the job of a senior, if he goes down, there's no one.
-Vols starting multiple freshman on the OL. True freshman, WRs, defensive lineman, kicker, safety, everywhere.
Whats amazing is no matter how many ways you explain this fans still dont get it. Those complaining never played and never built a team from the ground up. They will tell you they did but they're lying. Experience is the key to getting over the hump in a team sport. Experience breeds consistency. You can have all the youth and speed in the world and be beat by an experienced team with average speed. An experienced back beat us. A freshman back fumbled the ball in the end zone. Give him a year we're gashing fools. Live in reality not the XBOX world.

Does anyone consider strength and conditioning important. A 4 year player is much more developed than a freshman from high school, not to mention the specialized position knowledge.

I feel dumber by reading this...and have lost 5 minutes of my time. there was not a single valid point made...

slowly but surely, this team is getting better. Someone asked,I believe Jordan Williams,if this was a moral victory for such a young team...his response" no more moral victories,we are MEN in here now,and we are pissed we didnt win...its time for us to get it done..." or something similar...

I think this team believes they can play with anyone, and that they are going to be a pissed off team going into UF week... I think this is the week of the turning point for the program, and this team will now know what it takes to win...

No name calling if you call the thread title 'idiotic.'

By any measure we are young, beginning with the mere 16 games this coaching staff has been here.

Besides Oklahoma, I'm guessing those teams have a few freshman on each side that they rely on. Some even have a freshman QB.

You guys act like the Vols are starting 22 freshman. There's plenty of experience on this team.

I'm pretty sure it's been well documented that we are (I believe, by far) the youngest team in the entire country. And the announcers mention every game that we are the only team in the nation that replaced their entire starting lines on both sides of the ball. Anyone who watches one of our games with the sound on knows that the phrase "true freshman" is said a whole hell of a lot more in regards to our team compared to our opponents, and it's really not even close.

We are exceptionally young and extremely inexperienced, there really isn't any way to argue against that. You might not like it, I know I don't, but that doesn't make it not true.

Excuses!Excuses!Excuses! Florida won the NC a few years back with all Freshmen and Sophomores. Mostly Freshmen. But I guess it's good to make excuses for a program that hasn't done squat in 10 years. That's all we know how to do around here!

Um, NOPE! They had a several freshmen, but more sophomores and red-shirt sophomores and juniors. They were young at the skill positions but very veteran on both lines and we all know a good line can make everyone look good, as that is where the games are won. Tebow was a junior. Veteran safeties and linebackers.

No one's making excuses. It is what it is!

Sounds like all you know how to do "around here" is spread your negativity!

plenty of experience on a team who replaced the entire offensive and defensive lines? ever heard the SEC is won in the trenches? cause its pretty damn true... where is the experience? the wr core has some but our 4 best recievers are a true soph, a true freshman, a first year juco guy whos been hurt and a 5'8 junior. is it the secondary? oh wait no our stud cb is a true soph, our other corner is a walkon track soph, the nickel is a junior but isnt anything special and one of the two safeties is a freshman. how bout te? top two are freshmen, linebacker? we have a true soph who only played special teams last year, and a redshirt junior who missed almost 2 whole years of football bracketing the most experienced player on the team. kicker? freshman, offensive line? two true freshmen playing along side of 3 guys who had what? maybe 3-4 combined career starts at the beginning of the season. dline? we have a converted de starting at DT, two true freshmen rotating at strong side DE, and a first year starting dt rotating with a first year juco transfer. oh and the other starting DE is a true soph. rb? lane has played a good amount the last few years but has already been replaced by a true freshman. i guess all this experience is at QB where we have a second year starter and senior in justin worley. just because we have a few seniors and juniors on the team who have played a few snaps doesnt mean theyre any good. most of them have already been passed up by true freshmen. so anyone saying youth isnt a problem is a moron. no other way to spin it.

Great and true and oh so meaningful post.

I guess all the negavols have no "excuses" anymore to use to back up their irrational "I wanna win NOW cause I'M sick of losing" posts.

side note* looking at their roster, their soph class has to be one of the best ever.

cam newton
joe haden
the pouncy twins
aaron hernandez
carlos dunlap

just to name a few

they are multi talented......stealing and killing in their free time.

Vols are young, but so are Texas A&M and Florida St at key positions. Youth should not be an excuse for losing. Vols didn't not lose yesterday because of youth

The same Texas A&M with 2 Sr., 2 Jr., and a So. on the OL that had a combined 89 starts between them coming into this season?

We had 6, by the way.

Your full of it...or you didn't check your sources. FSU is a senior and junior laden team all over the field. Haven't looked at tAM yet, but I expect something similar.

Go ahead and take a look!

We are Talented, and talented enough to beat anyone in the SEC East this year. We faced a horrible Georgia team yesterday and came away with another road loss. Sorry, but this is eerily reminding me of the end of Fulmer's reign where he couldn't coach himself out of an open paper bag. Yesterday's game was ours to win, but we went in to our "let's not lose the game" vs "let's win the game" mentality.

We have the talent on the field - we just need a group of coaches to provide the leadership and direction for the team to follow.

Ahh, so that's what the "ignore" button is for.

You are the reason we suck. Don't stunt our growth with your bull****.
