We're Not Young...

We are Talented, and talented enough to beat anyone in the SEC East this year. We faced a horrible Georgia team yesterday and came away with another road loss. Sorry, but this is eerily reminding me of the end of Fulmer's reign where he couldn't coach himself out of an open paper bag. Yesterday's game was ours to win, but we went in to our "let's not lose the game" vs "let's win the game" mentality.

We have the talent on the field - we just need a group of coaches to provide the leadership and direction for the team to follow.

Hello !!! Somebody else gets it !!

And thanks for posting something that made me think, "We are young" and making an awful Pat Benetar song get stuck in my head.

Not only did UT replace the entire O and D line, which I believe is the only team in the country, they replaced some with true freshman. They say the game is won in the trenches, well somehow UT has found a way to be competitive without the experience where it is most needed.

Facts are hard. We have played and started more freshmen than anyone in the nation. So yes, we're young.

right.. Unfortunately some of our posters friends don't understand the status of our program when Jones took over and the decline of overall taken for he past decade.

Yes, the same one with a freshman QB

Just another example of you talkin out your ass about things you know nothing about. Hes a redshirt soph. Thats 3 years in a program all under the same coach. He also has one of the best olines in the country. You're just butthurt with very limited football knowledge.

Facts are stubborn things. The OP just likes to ignore them. Probably needs his statue of Gruden that he can kneel down to everyday.

Vols are young, but so are Texas A&M and Florida St at key positions. Youth should not be an excuse for losing. Vols didn't not lose yesterday because of youth

Of course, those programs are in a lot better shape than Tennessee, but do you have numbers on how many freshman are starting and playing significant minutes on those teams? I'd be interested in comparing.

He has nothin freak, at this point hes just flingin s*** against the wall and hoping something will stick. Those teams are nowhere near as young as us and both have killed it in recruiting the last 3-4 years vs 1 big class for us.

I'm actually fond of Pat Benatar. That song was an '80's anthem.

But we are a young team. Looking at the numbers is all one needs do to see that. We're going to have highs and lows with this team because of that. And the idea that UGA is a bad team is laughable. Gurley is a legitimate Heisman candidate right now imo.

Now is not the time to let emotions overwhelm you. We all love the Vols. Let's see how the season plays out. But of course, that's not the VN way. Here, love is a battlefield.

A bit of free advice........It's always better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you're stupid than to open your mouth and prove them right.

I've heard the young/depth excuse the last 5 years. How could that possibly be the same reason every year?

Because it is true. More so this year than the last 5. Maybe they should not have used it the previous 4 years.

I think depth and talent could be thrown around also. We are young filled with inexperienced talent at this level and not deep at only a few positions.

This excuse is a fact and much better than the 10 year old curses or hex excuse used in the DD years.

Blaming the loss yesterday on youth is ridiculous. Play calling, Worley sitting out a few series, Georgia with a little more talent are valid excuses.

You getting upset over this is hilarious. Go take a nap.

...and so is inexperience. I don't understand why you're so hellbent on ignoring something so obvious. I think you can downplay youth everywhere except at the LOS. There's a reason why you never see true freshmen O-linemen in the SEC and we're proving it.

fyp

One doesn't have to make youth the ONLY factor in the loss but really, seriously, it's simply insane to argue it doesn't matter.
