Were we overmatched, outcoached or just lackadaisical with today's effort?

After the first 5 minutes of the 1st quarter, our players looked confused. As soon as I saw the play calling for our offense, I thought to myself, "we're scared to challenge their secondary". We started drinking and dunking with our passes. We didn't stretch the field. We didn't play "our game", we played theirs.

Georgia played lights out for some stretches, and they have a defensive tackle who is an impossible matchup.

There's nothing we couldn't have improved from the game, but if just execution on offense was better we have a competitive game. Procedure penalties got in the way on all of our drives, preventing us from using motion to get favorable matchups. Hooker overthrew several deep balls after not missing similar throws for several games (pressure had some effect there but if he could launch it that far he could certainly hit them in stride). That's individual mistakes but I'm sure coach will point out the only way of fixing that is preparation, which is his job.

Maybe against a worse opponent we still get a win with all those mistakes, but not against this one. If we get another shot and keep it clean I think we could definitely win.

I think Kirby simply had a great gameplan to stop us. Lots of shifting and disguised blitzes that confused Hooker and the offensive Line. Sure, you could say we were outcoached. But what Huepel has done has been successful all year. Kirby was the one that stopped it. We didn't know what our weaknesses were until Georgia exploited them.

Also, it was a matter of execution. Georgia tackled really well and didn't give our offense any room to get things going.

So to answer your question, I think Georgia had the better ganeplan and sure we were overrated player to player as Georgia won the trenches.

They covered well also. At least half our sacks were coverage sacks.

1) outtalented
2) outcoached

Im compliment Ga not criticizing our staff. It’s easy to coach when you have superior talent.

UGA also shucked the UF game plan for us. When asked on the field how they shut us down Kirby said they practiced their asses for 2 weeks; in essence admitting they focused heavily on us.

Too many mistakes, especially the pre-snap penalties. However, those defensive shifts seem an awful lot like simulating the snap to me, but we should have been prepared for that.

That might be true, but we won’t beat this team in the playoff if we played ten games. They took care of our team as casually as we took care of UK
Can’t say I agree with that. The D held them to 3 points in the second half. Hooker was just off it seemed. The interception was a bad throw and choice, and he missed one long ball I know for sure. Should have been a lot closer. We could win a couple outta ten.

Hooker hits those 2 deep passes and the game goes down to the wire. Hooker was off today; without a doubt. Also the O-line penalties hurt.

But Georgia did expose our secondary as well; and they weren't the first team to do it.

That said, GA's talent level is way above ours right now and the fact that we're even competitive with them and Bama is a testament to Heupel. We felt outmatched most of the game and it was probably closer than it should've been.

Our offense is rhythm based, we could never get into a rhythm because of the pre snap penalties that put us behind the chains. Once we got behind the chains that made us one dimensional, and Georgia knew we were passing and brought blitzes

I think Georgia just had a good defensive plan. They have had 8 games of tape and seen what everyone else has done. Hats off, they just had a better plan

I’m just gonna say it and let the chips fall where they may..as bad as it stings, this game wasn’t at all out of reach in a different environment. Neutralize the crowd noise somewhat (8 pre snap penalties) and consider the 3 sure TDs that were a bit overthrown, and this game could have gone either way. A second shot at GA on a neutral field, and I like our chances much better. We lost by 2 TDs in one of the most hostile environments you’ll find anywhere & and absolutely nothing bounced our way. Not terrible.

GA roster - loaded with 5 star , elite talent - it will take Josh 2-3 years to be able to compete

We made mental mistakes that hurt, especially the penalties. But the difference was GA was just more talented. Recruiting, recruiting. For the first time this season, we played a team that could cover and shut down our receivers. Our DL just couldn't get penetration on the pass rush. No other team controlled us like GA did. Mindless finger pointing is just a waste of time. We weren't out coached. We were out played by a better, more talented team.
