What advice would you give UT's next coach.

My advice:

1- The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win.
2- Play for and make the breaks and when one comes your way - SCORE
3-If at first the game - or the breaks - go against you, don't let up...put on more steam.
4- Protect our kickers, our QB, our lead and our ball game.
5- Ball, oskie, cover, block, cut and slice, pursue and gang tackle..for this is the winning edge.
6- Press the kicking game. Here is where the breaks are made.
7- Carry the fight to our opponent and keep it there for 60 minutes.

Sincerely,

Robert Neyland

Seriously, guys? You are still on the "Doolaid"? You guys really need to "Checkout" and take your "lowered expectations" over to the Vandy board. I got no patience for underachievers. GTFO

I don't care what new users with 200 posts think.

Take your negavol crap and get out.

It is not being on the "Doolaid" . It is the damn truth. I think it is past time for Dooley to be gone but if we have the same record after year three with our new coach, we will turn on his a$$ too.

yeah, except these goobers were calling for Dooley's head halfway thru year 2.

I'd change your post to say ""but if we have the same record after halfway thru year two with our new coach, we will turn on his a$$ too.""

To hear these goobs now acting like they just now started calling for Dooley's head is pretty funny.

In a pathetic sort of way.

Not about pro Dooley or anti Fulmer or anything Kiffin.

What piece of advice would you give our next coach?

I will start...

1. Connect with the fans. I want someone to sell my UT to the public. Let's be talked about again. In a good way!

This is critical. I seem to remember after the Doodle was hired he went into hiding for like 4 months. Not a great way to start.

Yes, the coach needs to reek of confidence, even ifit is fake. Dooly has always had that look of "what the heck am I dooing here" in his body language.

And the next guy needs to be able to step in and RECRUIT. I immediately became worried when Saban started getting elite players the second he stepped foot in Tuscaloosa.

Build a time machine, go back in time. Go to UT as a student and spend your whole career playing football for the Vols. Then become a coach and spend your whole coaching career coaching for the Vols. Load the NFL with our players. Win so many cloase games that you lose count. Then lift us to heights we haven't seen in 50 years and win it all, a national championship.

Then prepare for your ass to be fired like a stupid slut on national television.

When something bad happens, and it will, own up to it and move on!

Do not, under any circumstances, try to "cover it up"!!

.

i just hope to god that the next vol coach will be smart enough, savvy enough, and tough enough that the last thing he will ever need is my advice.

Respectfully disagree. We have quite a bit of talent, especially on the offensive side of the ball and adequate talent on the defensive side. Our problem is coaching them up on the defense, as well as a scheme that I'm not sure Sunseri himself fully understands, or if he does, he can't relate it to his players. James Franklin has FAR less talent on his team at Candy but has coached them up and they have far over-achieved this year. I believe a coach of his caliber would have us sitting at 8 - 1 right now instead of a measley, embarrassing 4 - 6.

we are slow at every position on defense and that cannot be hide. we must recruit better speed accross the board.

Perfect!

Dont spend time on things that dont win games for you, like designs of the closets and storage rooms in the football complex....
