What can we do to ensure Heupel doesn’t leave for Oklahoma?

I dont know who OK would go after if/when Venebles gets fired, I’d imagine they would call Heupel for sure at least. He’s done pretty well here so far. I also definitely think he would listen. That’s his Alma Mater. He was obviously pretty emotional going back there this year. I imagine getting the chance to return that program to glory would be tempting. Not saying it would for sure happen at all, but anyone saying “zero chance” i think is crazy.

I think there is more at play than just Heupel and Oklahoma here. I think Heupel may not want to follow Venables and be upset that a lot of his friends from that staff got canned.

They just let go of one of Heupel's friends, Seth Littrell. I think part of the reason Heupel didn't want to run up the score (besides keeping players healthy) was his respect for Venables and that coaching staff (more so than Oklahoma). We forget that relationships sometimes matter more than schools in this game and that seems to be Universal.

I wouldn't be surprised if Seth doesn't end up on our staff here and I am thinking Heupel may not want to be the guy to follow Venables as it maybe a cut at his friend and that staff. Then again, money speaks so you never know what Oklahoma would offer and we are speculating about something that hasn't even happened or isn't even real right now.

But not how being a fan works.
Fans are customers. If they’re paying to get in that stadium, then they expect X out of the product. That’s just how life works. People are paying 1500-2K for a family of 4 to sit in that stadium for 3-4 hours. They have most certainly paid for their right to voice displeasure if they so wish.

Oklahoma just got absolutely smashed by South Carolina in Norman.

What can we do to ensure we don’t lose Heupel to his Alma mater?
He took over one train wreck. That’s what OU is turning into, don’t think he wants to again. Also with the way he left, just don’t see it happening.

Very interesting that OU just fired another former player as their OC. Should remind CJH that loyalty runs very shallow at that place.

Hopefully, CJH isn't as sensitive as some of our fans
Which fans do you find sensitive? The sunshine pumpers who only want to hear daisies and rainbows? The negavols who question performance on field and play calling?

It’s getting very hard to keep up.

Money usually does the trick.
What I believe a coach wants…

- Autonomy and freedom to run the program
- Resources (money) to hire assistants and staff
- World-class facilities
- Fair compensation

And the good ones in that order.

Is this really a concern? I’m sure he has emotional ties to Oklahoma, but is living in Norman, Oklahoma even close to being as good as east Tennessee? I would not make that choice even for more money. We will pay what anyone else will. Other than it being his alma mater, I don’t understand the concern about this.

After getting fired by Oklahoma, and seeing one of Oklahoma's coordinators just get fired, a good friend of his from the past, he's not going to OK
