What Charlie Strong Brings to UT

If he is named...I support him fully! I'll admit...it's not the big name hire I had hoped for, but it makes sense for both UT and Strong. He returns to the SEC and we get a coach that deserves a HC job in SEC to prove himself. Someone that is known as a solid recruiter and defensive minded coach. If it is Strong then time for me to quit *****ing and put my support in him until he proves me wrong.

Horrible hire. Please powers that be at UT, hire an AD with a high football IQ. We need somebody that knows what a good coach is.

No really, just wait and see. Strong is the right hire for this rebuilding project. Just wait til he gets his players here, you'll see.

Is Charlie Strong the best that Hart can get? C'mon Man... He coaches at Louisville or Western Kentucky... someplace like that. Sad day if that's the best Hart can do. Hart start packing your bags. :salute:

This is doubly ignorant - both because you apparently don't know where Strong coaches...

...and because both Louisville and Western Kentucky are playing in bowl games this year, something Tennessee can't seem to manage. If you're going to toss out bad teams offhand, make sure they're actually bad teams.

Well, let's start with this: Charlie Strong was the Defensive Coordinator for the 2006 Florida Gators, a team that played Ohio State for the BCS Championship. Ohio State had a Heisman-winning quarterback and was favored by a touchdown.

Florida won by 27, and held Ohio State to 82 yards of total offense.

Is that anything you could get behind?

Bingo...The fact that he's a defensive minded coach sells me...God knows we couldn't stop a nosebleed the past few years. GBO!

I'm glad we're looking to get C Strong.. Would be a great hire!! The man can clearly coach and we need leadership in the locker room! I think our program is on the right track if we get him and i bet the recruiting in FL, GA, and LA will be ripe for TN!

Hey 99 you know what is becoming clearer, and clearer to me every day? We have without a doubt in my mind anymore, the stupidist fans in CFB.

Even if you don't like this hire you have to be excited because he would have to try REALLY hard to be worse than Dooley.

So you saying it was Strong (DC) and not Urban Myer (HC)?

But

You are saying that it will be the HC and not the DC if we have a good D?

From what I'm hearing, the sky is the limit with Strong as our coach. He is one of the brightest young minds in college football, a smart tactician and all around good X's and O's coach. His defense is always hard to work against because he gives you so many different looks. He puts tremendous pressure on opposing offenses.

I can't wait for spring practice to begin so that we can begin our return from oblivion. He's a hard worker and those Louisville defenses always seem to give it their all, play with intensity every play until the whistle blows and leave nothing on the field. And they do all the little things right, all the things that add up to wins on the scoreboard. They just get in the face of the other team and bring it play after play.

If you're not excited about the direction of the program you better check your pulse. Strong is about to whip this team into shape - it's time to get on the bus or get run over by the bus. It's time to give this team the support they deserve, because you are going to witness a team at rock bottom start climbing over the hump. They are raising the bar, 5-7 won't cut it, not by a long shot, and coaches and the players alike will out to show everyone they are a team to be reckoned with in the near future.
Not sure 52 is young, but gotta admit it is young to me. LOL

I do not know what kind of analysis that was, but a pretty weak one. Western Kentucky or Louisville did not play an SEC schedule. Also, just because he does well in the Big East does not always translate to the SEC.

I think this will be an okay three years, nothing really to get excited about. I guess I'll start making the flyers, "Gruden 2015."

I'm personally happy with the hire if it goes down...Some people are seriously clueless. Strong would be a great fit here.

Clueless? No realists who look at his record and the records of the teams he played.....his overrated def ranking and so forth....we don't have Strong lenses glasses that we are looking thru....
