What did you have for dinner?

My unhealthy night of fried banana peppers, Philly steak sandwich, and a peach tini.

I've been sparing you guys, but I'll join. Be prepared...we eat well in the Allen house.

Ate at Page's in Mt. Pleasant for lunch.

I know you said what was in it. But what is it

Polenta is like Italian grits. Its yellow corn meal mush.

One traditional way to serve it is shown in the pic: you pour the polenta out on a big ol board and spread it. Then you ladle on the Italian red sauce. Then you put whatever "toppings" you want on top of that. Then everyone sits around the polenta board and eats using only a wooden spoon. You drag the edge of your spoon through the polenta to mark your territory and hope that your tablemates respect your boundaries. Usually they do.

We served it last night for a bunch of friends. We told them to come for dinner, but only bring one wooden spoon each. They were pretty surprised when we started populating the polenta board with the food. It was a blast!

Sounds interesting. If I'm at a restaurant that serves it I might try it. I'm up to try most things.

Sounds like an Italian version of a low country boil.

Polenta served in restaraunts will be a little different, in my experience.

Yeah, kinda!

Here's a couple of Youtubes of folks preparing polenta a la tabla.
