What has happened to VolNation and its fans?

I'm behind Coach Jones all the way! Are the players putting forth for him? The QB situation isn't the greatest, but hopefully get better over the years. It's got too for UT to go places. However, the QB isn't the main problem. I just hope the Univrsity has patience with this coach. I do, as I know he has the utmost best for this university to get back to prominence- i.e. top 20.

I just want to get back to relevance I can be patient on prominence

Some of you all seriously need to lighten up. As the poster above pointed out, the OP put out a massive tome that basically said, "Stop being Negavols, give Butch a chance."

This is only like the 100th thread of the last week or 2 with the same theme, and it seems unnecessarily long. Hence the cliff notes comment.
My comment wasn't really directed at you. I've seen more than my share of these threads today, trust me.

Just frustration man. It's always hurry up and wait these past 5 or so years. We got used to winning or competing for the east for the past 20 years so it's a hard pill to swallow. I know fans from my generation (mid to late 20s) are admittedly spoiled fans because until recently Tennessee has never sucked in our lifetime.

I've been a Tennessee fan my whole life living in Kentucky. I didn't have that many Vol fans to talk too. I discovered VolNation so I could talk about Tennessee football with other Vol fans around the world. When I first came on here, everyone was so nice and welcomed me like I was family. It was enjoyable to talk about recruiting, coaching, the team, etc. Every since the season as started, it seems like all I see is Vol fans bashing the team, the coaching, or each other. I can understand people getting upset over a stupid play or something like that but it's like there's always someone complaining about something: Butch Jones can't coach, our quarterbacks sucks, our offensive line is overrated, we should just give up the rest of the season, etc.. It's getting to the point where I don't even like to come on VolNation anymore. Im not trying to bash anyone but it's the truth. I didn't expect us to dominate this season, I knew we was going to have a rough time learning the new system and stuff. Sure we might be struggling now, but give Buch Jones a couple of more years and he'll have this team competing in the SEC again. He just doesn't have the horses to compete yet but we shouldn't bash the team just because they're struggling. It just makes us look bad. Again, I believe Butch Jones is the right man for the job. He knew it would be a big challenge to turn this program around and it's going to take him a few years to restore it. Like I said before, we might struggle to win some games this year, but there's no reason for some of you Vol fans bashing the coaches and the whole team. They don't deserve that. You can make fun of this thread all you want too but I'm speaking for everyone, that it's time for some of us Vol fans to act more mature and not act like a bunch of babies everytime something goes wrong. It doesn't make the team better and it sure as heck doesn't make us look better either. We should always have confidence in this football team!

I do not want the cliff notes version and I agree 100%! We'll said post! I admit I have been condescending to all the gloom and doom fans but my fuse is short with some of these people who continually bash the players and coaches without giving them a chance. I think some people actually believed we would be competing for a NC this year!

It's time the fans get behind this coaching staff and players and show the recruits why Tennessee has the best fans and program in college football, win or lose!

GO VOLS! Next up Georgia - let's SMOKE em on Saturday in more ways than one!

At least the fans are still coming out to support Butch and the team. When I was at the game Saturday, I expected to see a smaller crowd. OP, the same people bashing CBJ and CO. Will be praising him when he starts winning. You cannot overcome lack of talent in the SEC and expect to compete with the big dogs. UT has a heck of a class committed and they know this is going to be a rough year. However, they believe in what Butch is trying to do here and the fans should too because regardless of the outcome of this year he will still be the coach next year. GBO!

Most of us are still here OP, frustrated but still hopeful, impatient but still supportive. See if you want to say something positive about our team or coach, your accused of being unrealistic, a kook aid drinker or sunshine pumper, or accused of just accepting mediocrity. Really, we love the Vols and we understand the reality of where we are right now and that it's gonna take some time. Everybody handles frustration differently I guess.

Back around 2008-09 seasons I was one of the bridge jumpers whose mood would swing wildly based on the results of UT football. Since then I've moved from Knoxville got married and have a daughter. It's really given me some perspective on how insignificant football is in my life. I love UT and I love UT football but I had to take a mental health break because of what has gone on with the program. And I'm much better off for it. Playing with your little girl (or boy) is a sure fire recipe for forgetting how terrible our program is right now.

But I still get on here every day. 😃

Proving he could take a hit, after whatching the Jets today he may be a genius.

Can't believe the Titans D was available this week in my league. Gave me 27 points.

I pretty much try to take whoever is playing the Jets each week.

I hear u, but that day is over. U have 3 yrs. To get it done (as a coach). And a football history like ours maybe shorter. Its the sign of the times. Even butch said that losing like we did to Oregon and Florida is unexceptible at UT.

Some of us are old enough to remember UT relevance. If your life in the fall is totally wrapped up in UT football, then I can understand the legions of the miserable. I used to be that way - until the 2001 SECCG. I knew I couldn't go on allowing my emotions to escalate or nose-dive based on what 18-22 yr. olds did on the field having been coached by guys making a lot of money who sometimes made stupid coaching mistakes. Having 3 kids also helped readjust my compass. I still pull for UT, but I don't hang on each outcome like I used too. Our program has been in tail-spin mode since '08. We've begun to think/act/react like losers because we've been losing so much. If CBJ were smart, he'd have signed a 4-year, guaranteed-tenure, contract at the least given the hole this storied program is in.

I feel for Worley because I think the young Wrs are a huge part of the problem.

It's definitely not all on Worley, the WRs are consistently running poor routes. The biggest negative to Worley in that situation is that he doesn't have the wheels to run the ball.

He tried. I've never seen anyone refuse to get rid of it or escape the pocket like that guy.

You don't remember Sterling Henton then do you. He'd rather take a 20 yard loss than throw one away. Thank God Andy Kelly would let her fly.
