Haha. If our football program can't get a big time coach then our basketball program definitely can't. That is dreaming. I don't think Tom Crean was ever available unless you wanted him over Pearl. Stevens has been offered by everyone...waiting for top 5 program.

It's easy. There isn't one guard on UT's squad that can consistently break a press. Golden had Maymon to help him last year. This year he doesn't. When McRae is bringing the ball up that tells you all you need to know.

Piss poor ball handling led to crushing turnovers. Couple that with piss poor FT shooting and you get a loss.

UT outshot Bama and outrebounded Bama by 15 and still lost. Let that sink in.

I am not a Pearl hater...actually the opposite. But to compare him with this situation is kind of dumb. Not every coach has success like him but we CCM was in a tough spit last year. Pearl inherited good guards. CCM inherited a better inside game.

The fact is CBP made mistakes but the NCAA made "an example" out of him. Anyone that thinks other "big name" coaches (see Jim Calhoun) don't make similar or worse "mistakes" on a regular basis is crazy. It would have certainly helped to have had a stronger AD to help in the situation.

Yup. Trae was good, when he was playing well, but still had his lapses. Now that he's playing like freshman trae, we really are struggling.

A good PG and this team would be better, not a final four team, but they'd be a dancing team.

This board was covered with them. A lot never post anymore now that he is gone and the ones who still do say they were for Pearl all along.

The pg spot isnt the only position that sucks.i did not like that Mcbee got playing time as a freshmen and sophmore but he showed alot of improvement and i started pulling for him but this year he must have went into the season thinking he was great but im back to the point that he does not deserve to be on the team .and any team that would start mcbee is just showing everyone that UT has a serious lack of talent. and without Maymon Stokes is having problems trying to be the manStokes is having maymonitis which means he is lost without him.This Vols team cant hit jumpers for the most part and free throws is so bad i turn the channel when any Vol is shooting .when they said maymon was going to miss some games and may redshirt i said they would win 5 conference games.im not sure they can win 5.they ought to think about telling quinton to transfer after season and a few more but next year let hubbs run point and either drive to the bucket and dunk or dish or let his shoot threes and let stokes and maymon get the rebound on misses

Golden is our only competent ball handler. Take away Maymon who helped him last year and you get what you got today. If Martin doesn't bring someone in to help him next year I'm going to be pissed.

Can Landry handle the ball? Hell, all we'll need next year is someone who can dribble and break a press. That's not asking a ton.

That's so BS. No one was a Pearl "hater" until the NCAA stuff effected the team's play. Even then people loved him but realized his actions were causing the team to play poorly. Hater is so overused.

Was there not people on here that said Martin was better than Pearl? Pearl was wrong, but it was a great run, bring him back.

With his style of play, minimizing mistakes on offense and valuing pocessions are key. You would think a solid PG would be at the top of his list of needs.

I am not sure CCM really wanted him. More of a scoring PG. But, no doubt, Chris Jones would have made us a tourney team last year and would be breaking the zones against us. Could you imagine Jones with Hubbs and McRae?
