Martin made him a priority, visited him multiple times and got him to re-commit to Tennessee.

This team would be very good with jones, even without Maymon.

Nobody has to worry about Stokes leaving early unless he transfers. I'm just not impressed with him.

Pearl had Jones and Ware and Martin couldn't hold on to either one. Ware went to Louisville and Jones is on his way there.

Some teams just do not gel. Some teams are thin in tallent and plagued by injuries. Martin is trying different things to find the right combination. He is a good coach. We are in the teaching phase of the season. The team will get better.

I understand there's no way he comes back but why brain dead? He had them in the tourney every year, a couple decent tourney runs...one real good run, a #1 in the country ranking at one time (I know it didn't last but a game) and more excitement than there has been in a long time. I just don't understand the resentment. What he did goes on all over the country, he just happened to get caught and he didn't handle it well. Once again I know it wont happen, but wishing it could doesn't make someone "brain dead"

I made a distinction in another thread. I get wishing he was still the coach. What I don't get is the people that don't seem to understand the reality of why that can't happen.

Ok I get ya. Yeah he will definitely never be hired back. But I am one that wishes he was still here

and we do need to get over the thought of being able to hire Brad Stevens...there aren't many jobs in the country he would leave for...and this job isn't one of them

The way I remember it once Chris Jones went to Junior College CCM never attempted to re-recruit him. Is this not right?

It may be shaky to completely blame the team on Pearl, but there's no mistaking that we likely wouldn't be in this predicament if Pearl had either played by the rules or had merely said "ok, you got me" when shown photographic evidence.

Because Chris jones was no longer going to come to Tennessee. He convinced him out of high school to stick to Tennessee, but once he was in eligible it was a whole new ball game.

Maybe but I think it's more coaching and two years of poor recruiting. I don't think CCM deserves to much blame for the first year though.

Most said CCM didn't want Chris Jones and preferred Landry. Maybe Jones wasn't going to come anyway but I think the feeling was mutual.

BTO think he is some kind of basketball guru and he is just pissed because Martin isnt getting the job done.He has been running from thread to thread defending him.He lost it when I said a couple of weeks ago that Tn will do well to win 13 games and will not make the tourney and wanted to bet money and all that crap.He went on to tell me they were projected a 6 ot 7 seed and said Tn will win 20 games.Its not working out to good for him and Martin.

Yeah he called me a complete idiot and said I didn't know anything about basketball a few weeks ago after I said Trae Golden was not a natural pg and that attendance was going to be down this year because of the CCM's style of play.
