Yeah people forget thatthe rules say you have to line it and snap the ball. They ran very basic run plays most of the 2nd half. The other team is responsible to continue to play and they have to tackle. lets don't forget that their coach turned down the mercy rule for the 2nd half. (10 minute quarters with a no clock stoppage). I don't feel sorry for them.I actually disagree. Like someone else said, I've never batted an eye when Ohio State or Alabama drops 70 on someone. The fact they are calling it classless tells me they are afraid.
(Plus we scored 6 points in the second half)
Exactly correct. The mercy rule could have been invoked and Kent didn’t want to do it and we certainly took it easy on them. It could have been 100 to 0 easily even with the 3rd string playing. (Thought Gaston Moore looked good.)Huepel’s didn’t just take his foot off the gas, he turned the thing off and it still coasted well lol
But yeah, as much as people want to bitch about the onside kick, we really went as easy as we could in the second half. You can’t forget it wasn’t our idea to play the full 60mins, they decided not to accept the mercy rule
I agree it being kickers call. Bc there were a couple of other times they lined up exactly the same and TN kicked it deep. Probably told on sideline to always kick it deep the rest of gameExactly correct. The mercy rule could have been invoked and Kent didn’t want to do it and we certainly took it easy on them. It may have been pointed out already but I believe the onside kick was the kicker’s call and not Josh’s. I think it’s automatic for the kicker if there is a huge gap in the front line which there was. I’m thinking they would have gotten on the kicker if he hadn’t done it. If the coaches called it then yes, I think that would be a bit much.
Looking forward to Oklahoma. It will tell us a lot about this team.
Heupel is one of those rare coaches left who seems to combine elite competivness with a sense of gratitude. At least as long as AD White is here, he isn’t going anywhere; no matter how much money is on the table. We got a great one folks-Curious why everybody thinks JH will run the score up? Hes still got love for OU and even talks to stoops from time to time. I think he will be on the short list of potential head coaches at OU in 2026.
Heupel ain’t leaving
Perhaps, but we should all want Kiffin to succeed bigly at Ole Miss, or we might find him on the other side of the field when we play Gata next year. And knowing how much harder to recruit for Ole Miss than FU, (and given they are a top 10 team now) does anyone really want that?To be fair, I get mad at Kiffin for doing it at Ole Miss, becuase I think he is intentionally trying to stat padd for some of his players/offense. Specifically I think he wants his offense to outperform ours on paper.
I got a great chuckle out of that as well. He has built a powerhouse here. Why start over?-Curious why everybody thinks JH will run the score up? Hes still got love for OU and even talks to stoops from time to time. I think he will be on the short list of potential head coaches at OU in 2026.

That is a side benefit of having a coach who was a Heisman level competitor. Same with Coach Majors. They never grew out of that stage and it shows (to our benefit)Now we know. Under that unassuming exterior of CJH lies a "stone cold killer" when it comes to football. New nickname for coach, Stone Cold Heup or (see what I did there with the or) SCH.
Couldn't agree more.Tap the brakes a bit. We look really good but we haven’t played anybody yet. NC State is downright awful
