This is pretty smart
-Michigan beat us by almost never blitzing and keeping 2 safeties back and baiting us into run into their D line that we couldn't handle. Will Tennessee deploy a similar strategy? I don't know. But if they do blitz us and leave our WR trio in one and ones, I think we should like that. Our OL is better pass blocking than run blocking, and our backs can pick up blitzes with the best of them. I would welcome an over aggressive strategy by Tennessee, but I don't think we'll get it. They are going to play the pass like Michigan and hope OSU still struggles to run into light boxes.

This is not so smart
Our offensive line won't be manhandled like they were against Michigan either so I expect a little bit more success running the ball and some better protection which should give Howard more time to find the talented receivers.

They are extremely over-confident while we have a lot of "sky is falling" in our fan base along with reasonable folks.

And this focus on cold weather is just crazy. What would make a difference is snow, sleet, rain .. i.e. something wet.

News flash for Ohio State mensa candidate #1 -- While you are correct, ours is the toughest path through the playoffs ... nonetheless, Ohio State got _exactly_ the same draw as Tennessee, except that you're playing #9 while we're playing #8. The rest of the path: identical. Heh.

News flash for OSU mensa candidate #2 -- We beat Oklahoma. You sure they "put out the book" on how to stop us? Heh.

News flash for OSU mensa candidate #3 -- Our rushing game is the heart of our offense. It's a little better than "mid." You think we're a passing team. Time for us to improve your understanding of who we actually are.

Heh.

Go Vols!

Awfully confident for a team that could only manage 10 points on a woeful Michigan team. Obviously they haven’t watched us very much. Our D line (and the defense in general) is far superior to Michigan’s and they are about to find that out. One guy said he hoped we blitz a bunch. We don’t. Outside of Georgia, we were able to put pressure on with just the D line. And Ohio State’s makeshift line is nowhere close to Georgia’s. I expect to have success against Will Howard without much blitzing. They did score 30 on Oregon but Oregon’s defense looked like a sieve on Saturday. Was not impressed with them at all.

It’s in their house and it will be a close game but I don’t believe for a second that they will run us out of the stadium. Our strengths line up very well against their weaknesses.

Miles Kitzleman
Holden Staes
Ethan Davis will all go off this game.

James Pearce, Omar Norman Lott, Tyree West and Joshua Jospehs will all be remembered forever because of this game.

Let’s give the Buckeyes what they really want.
A new Head Coach.

And maybe give us Jeremiah Smith as a reward.!

“Ryan Day has proven that he needs the better player at all 22 positions to win football games. Gonna be tough because Tennessee might have a better player at one or two positions.”

This guy is in for a big surprise. I lived in Ohio for well over a decade. They don’t pay attention to CFB outside the Midwest, then they’re always shocked when SEC teams show up with equal talent and put it on them. Rinse and repeat. Hoping for the same in this game.

Missouri did a number on them last year in the Cotton bowl. I guess it is just kids way of thinking. Sad but true.

-Concerned about TN's defensive front against this oline...with last year's Cotton Bowl performance still weighing on my mind. - Using brain cells...

-Tennessee isn't in Ryan Day's head like Michigan so I don't see us stubbornly playing into their strength ( I really hope this is the case). Our offensive line won't be manhandled like they were against Michigan either so I expect a little bit more success running the ball and some better protection which should give Howard more time to find the talented receivers. - "offensive line won't be manhandled like they were against Michigan...", doesn't UT have one of the best and deepest defensive lines in college football??? Or did I just imaging that??

-I believe that there's a lot of angry players looking for redemption. Kind of feel the same about the coaches. - Good! please come in thinking about Michigan... and Oregon too while you're at it...

-Well the Ryan Day effect is the biggest problem for OSU...If he can keep himself out of the play calling, and allow the team to play its game I give OSU a 7 out of 10 chance to win...if we screw around and get destroyed up front...well these weeks off preparing will mean nothing...

-My confidence in the Bucks never wavers. We can beat anyone. And in most all cases, we probably should. Our Defense will be the best unit on the field next Saturday and it won’t even be particularly close either. All we’ll really need from our Offense is to not turn the ball over and to stay ahead of the chains. Touchdowns instead of field goals, when given the opportunities. - UT defense says hello...

-Support the team regardless of who they are playing. Pretty sure most everyone was calling TN soft all season. - "Pretty sure" = I believe what ESPN tells me.

-I have very little confidence in Ryan Day and the offensive line. I wouldn’t be surprised if they laid an egg at home. - The guy who stood and watched a fight break out and did nothing...

-Tennessee got the worst possible draw in the playoffs. We'll destroy these soft ass fools. - "soft" - a team whose defense allowed more than 20 points only once through the season.

-Ohio State has the potential to outrush Tennessee and blow them out. Ohio State has played a murderer's row of rush defenses and still managed 5 yds/carry. - 99.3 yds/game vs. OSU's 96.8 yds/game against much more inferior opponents...

-Saw Tennessee live this year vs. Oklahoma (my brother is DE for OU and played in the game)…Oklahoma D put out the book on how to stop Tennessee. We just have to follow it. - Musta missed that, coulda swore we won that one...

-In 1996, the University of TN wore illegal cleats in a soaking wet Peach Bowl. Karma is coming. -

-Cold temps are going to have us see injuries. I have no faith in our backups on the OL if this should happen. Of course, the knife cuts both ways and it could end up biting them. - this is just simple football fact...

-TN will be a tough matchup, but one we can win. Personally I don't believe there is any team that should beat us, if we play well on offense. The defense is playing well enough for me to say that. - Michigan won by running for 172 yards (throwing for another 62 yards), Indiana is one of the many high school teams on their schedule, Penn St. ran for 176 yards (threw for 182), Oregon ran for 141 and threw for 300+

-It's going to be way too cold for Tennessee. They won't be able to throw and their rushing offense is mid. We should roll. - "mid"??? w/ the SEC's leading rusher... please tell me how little you know about football...

-We get the absolute easiest 1st round game. We are blessed for sure. Let's Roll!! - I really hope they think so...

-Our roster can compete with any SEC school. Ryan Day will have to have a great gameplan though. - Based on your formidable knowledge of the SEC I'm sure...

-I've watched Tennessee a couple of times this year, they don't impress me. - then sit back and relax

-Tennessee is a fraud and I don't care what anyone says. - Fraud??? Which of the two teams won all their home games...

Didn't do all of them, but what time allowed...

Only 1 WR went off on our team this year, and that was @ Arkansas. Since then our DBs have played pretty well. Our weakness is our LBers, UGA had a great game plan for this, using multiple Motions and different TE sets to have our LBers eyes in the wrong spot and we got tore up because of it. Our DBs are actually pretty good in 1 vs 1 situations. To think our team is soft?????? lmfao.. yall gonna find out why Heupel said Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime. GBO!
I’m not so sure UGA’s game plan emphasized the use of TE against UT as their Offense gameplay in general always is heavy with motions and TE’s as a constant passing threat to the middle of the field (Bowers for one). They have been this way for years, however, I do think you are correct with our LB’s being the weak link to our D.

.
How did that turn out for Oklahoma?
.

I fully expect our Defense to punch them in the face all night (Norman-Lott might literally). I also expect D Sampson to be D Sampson so we'll see what happens.
If D Samp doesn't fumble on the opening drive, we should be OK.

OSU averaged 169 ypg rushing. UT averaged 233 ypg.

Against P4 opponents, OSU averaged 145 ypg. UT avg'd 198.

We can go a lot deeper but there are two facts that their delusional fans have way off. One, UT is NOT soft and especially in the run game. Two, that the rush Ds they've faced are better than those that UT has faced. For instance the same Nebraska D that smothered OSU's run game gave up 215 to IU the week prior.

I don't disrespect OSU. They're talented. They've dominated the Big 10 in large measure because they are so much more talented than most of that league. It will be a tough game to win. UT needs to jump out early then control their O. Banks has to be better than he's been the past few games.

PS- I don't feel bad about UT's secondary matched up against their WRs. Good talent. Not scary. Not on the same level as Bama or UGA IMO.

"-In 1996, the University of TN wore illegal cleats in a soaking wet Peach Bowl. Karma is coming."

If your going to make a BS accusation you should at least get the bowl game right. I was at that Citrus bowl when we shut down their heisman winning RB.
My favorite thing about this is what the heck good would long cleats do in a bowl game that was played indoors.

I wouldn't read too much into the Cotton bowl.
I don't read to much into it, but I am of the thought process that you should not talk game if you really don't know.
Turf field is going to be a factor regarding speed. Speed works both ways as well. I wish the game was tomorrow. Get this settled.
I believe our Defense will shut them down because of OSU issues, we stay fresh and we have played better competition up front than them.
Not sure about the Offense but we will score more than our defense gives up.

How close do you think this game is going to be called.
I seem to think that we will live in their backfield.
You are right about Banks and play calling. I thought he backed off against Beck in that game.

They played a murderers row of rush defenses?
Akron - #106 - 183.3 yds/game
W Michigan - #110 - 186.3 yds/game
Marshall -#100 - 169 yds/game
Michigan St - #34 - 125 yds/game
Iowa - #26 - 117.5 yds/game
Oregon -#35 - 126.1 yds/game
Purdue -# 119- 200 yds/game
Nebraska - #12 - 105.8 yds/game
Penn State - #9 - 103.6 yds/game
Northwestern- #38 - 129.9 yds/game

If anything, TN is built like a B1G team. Strong rushing and strong defense.
