What other message boards are saying (Playoff Edition) (Ohio State)

Back in the late 1990s, I had to spend a month at a tier 1 auto plant in NE Ohio, and the first weekend needed a skiing fix. Went down to some crappy hill resort around Mansfield. Have to go up north into Michigan to the Boyne area to find decent hills
Lol! I never saw a hill in Ohio and drove about 500 miles through nonstop corn yet they look down on us while having insane clown posse tattoos

Not sure I have ever thought of guys like Eddie George as pussies. I've even gotten to know a few people that are huge OSU fans. Wouldn't call any of them pussies either. Social media is a catalyst. We see the worst at times and then stroke the entire group with a broad brush
I have seen Eddie George twice in person. Once in Memphis at a preseason game against the Raiders and once on a flight from Nashville to Columbus. I would not call him a 🐈. That dude is huge.

-Nico compiled all of his stats against the turds on their schedule and wilted in the big games, for the most part. But, they still went 10-2 in a great conference, so they are indeed a weird team to evaluate.

-If we can beat Tennessee (at home)… we then matchup with the 1 seed Oregon Ducks & can steal their path the rest of the way. I like it. Going to have to be lat 4 great teams. It’s Ryan Day’s chance to change his narrative forever.

-Let's not overlook Tennessee since this is Cooper 2.0 era we all know you can't spell Citrus without UT.

-We are a scary team to have to deal with and some of the Tennessee over confidence I have seen is laughable. Believe in the Buckeyes!

-I don’t think Tennessee’s offense or QB are very good, but we’ve laid some eggs this year also. And our patchwork OL against an SEC D line in a game in December outside in Columbus is scary. We don’t have a FG kicker to rely on, which is important in games like this (probably low-scoring, elements at play where fluky things can happen).

-100% we are winning this game. Tennessee won't last a half at the shoe.

-Ryan Day has proven that he needs the better player at all 22 positions to win football games. Gonna be tough because Tennessee might have a better player at one or two positions.

-Michigan beat us by almost never blitzing and keeping 2 safeties back and baiting us into run into their D line that we couldn't handle. Will Tennessee deploy a similar strategy? I don't know. But if they do blitz us and leave our WR trio in one and ones, I think we should like that. Our OL is better pass blocking than run blocking, and our backs can pick up blitzes with the best of them. I would welcome an over aggressive strategy by Tennessee, but I don't think we'll get it. They are going to play the pass like Michigan and hope OSU still struggles to run into light boxes.

-Heupel is pretty clever. Advantage goes to the Vols coaching staff with 13 days to prepare.

-Did you see Day’s interview, dude is so glum and dispirited….he’s already lost….toast actually….I observed little hype and positive emotion from him.

-I actually think they will come out and crush tenn. I’m usually conservative with my picks but this is setting up to be an easy bet and win. I have Osu like 28-13.

-Concerned about TN's defensive front against this oline...with last year's Cotton Bowl performance still weighing on my mind.

-Tennessee isn't in Ryan Day's head like Michigan so I don't see us stubbornly playing into their strength ( I really hope this is the case). Our offensive line won't be manhandled like they were against Michigan either so I expect a little bit more success running the ball and some better protection which should give Howard more time to find the talented receivers.

-I believe that there's a lot of angry players looking for redemption. Kind of feel the same about the coaches.

-Well the Ryan Day effect is the biggest problem for OSU...If he can keep himself out of the play calling, and allow the team to play its game I give OSU a 7 out of 10 chance to win...if we screw around and get destroyed up front...well these weeks off preparing will mean nothing...

-My confidence in the Bucks never wavers. We can beat anyone. And in most all cases, we probably should. Our Defense will be the best unit on the field next Saturday and it won’t even be particularly close either. All we’ll really need from our Offense is to not turn the ball over and to stay ahead of the chains. Touchdowns instead of field goals, when given the opportunities.

-Support the team regardless of who they are playing. Pretty sure most everyone was calling TN soft all season.

-I have very little confidence in Ryan Day and the offensive line. I wouldn’t be surprised if they laid an egg at home.

-Tennessee got the worst possible draw in the playoffs. We'll destroy these soft ass fools.

-Ohio State has the potential to outrush Tennessee and blow them out. Ohio State has played a murderer's row of rush defenses and still managed 5 yds/carry.

-Saw Tennessee live this year vs. Oklahoma (my brother is DE for OU and played in the game)…Oklahoma D put out the book on how to stop Tennessee. We just have to follow it.

-In 1996, the University of TN wore illegal cleats in a soaking wet Peach Bowl. Karma is coming.

-Cold temps are going to have us see injuries. I have no faith in our backups on the OL if this should happen. Of course, the knife cuts both ways and it could end up biting them.

-TN will be a tough matchup, but one we can win. Personally I don't believe there is any team that should beat us, if we play well on offense. The defense is playing well enough for me to say that.

-It's going to be way too cold for Tennessee. They won't be able to throw and their rushing offense is mid. We should roll.

-We get the absolute easiest 1st round game. We are blessed for sure. Let's Roll!!

-Our roster can compete with any SEC school. Ryan Day will have to have a great gameplan though.

-I've watched Tennessee a couple of times this year, they don't impress me.

-Tennessee is a fraud and I don't care what anyone says.

Turnovers and winning the special teams area will be the keys to Tennessee getting a win at the Horseshoe and moving on to Pasadena.

He's a nice, gracious guy. I had a buddy that played golf there that knew him. I met George at a charity gathering in Nashville some 20 years ago. Mentioned my buddy's name when meeting him and he engaged me for about 15 minutes

Maybe not,,,after all, he's the coach at TSU & still has the imprint of BILL DUFF on his body. "He did NOT make it!"

That's SnowTrails in Mansfield (not far from where they shot Shawshank Redemption). It's one of our two "ski resorts" in Ohio (the other being Mad River Mountain which is close to the state's highest point). Southeastern Ohio has a ton of similarities with East Tennessee. The Hocking Hills and Cades Cover are practically identical in places.

As for OSU Fans, they are indeed delusional.. but I think we would be too if we historically ran rough shot over a conference with only one or two other teams capable of beating us each year.

I lived in Perrysburg, worked in Holland for 2 years in the early 90s. It is flat.
The South East is in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. It’s rural and like home.
SE Ohio is basically Monroe County. Probably fewer meth labs…then again maybe more. Prettt country though. Athens, home to Ohio University (which the “The” is meant to slight, despite OU being 80ish years older than OSU) is quite nice.

Or maybe social media shows you their true colors. You missed the main point. These old school B1G fans look down on people from the south in general and on top of that act like football revolves around their program and your team could never come close. It's outright arrogance. That's awesome you've had good interactions with them. The majority of the times I've had any interaction with an OSU fans in any format they're uppity as hell.
Aren't all big time fan bases like that? Maybe instead of their perceived superiority complex, you have an inferiority complex. They might have thought the same thing about you too, if you were engaged with them. Were you able to crank out some informed facts while talking with them?

That's actually unbelievable how could someone ski that at 1390ft? My driveway, (neighborhood easement) house to the road is ~3000ft and I couldn't imagine having fun skiing down it but it's pretty low grade which is likely why

Not sure but it is going to matter a lot. If OSU gets away with UGA level holding then it could be a really long day. If it goes straight up then UT will cause them a lot of problems on the LOS.

OTOH, their D could make things tough on UT's OL also. I know this isn't really CJH's thing... but I would like to see Nico out of the pocket with a run/pass option and simple reads. He's got the arm to throw deep back side which OSU probably isn't accustomed to seeing very often in the Big 10.

A lot of it does come down to Nico. If he hits some shots over the top early then life gets better... but that's been the story of the whole season.
ACC Crew for our game.

B12 -- Indiana vs ND
SEC -- SMU vs Penn St
B10 -- Clemson vs TX

In the past when you said OSU, they had players on offense or defence that you could Identify with immediately or their defense or offense. There is just not an individual that stands out or an unit that does. DL or OL or RBs, there is no identity to relate to the team. Good and bad. Day is the only thing that comes to mind.

Current forecast:

All models agree a cold front will move through the Ohio valley mid next week. Current forecasted highs don’t get above freezing, lows in the teens around kickoff.

Some models have shown snow showers that day while others have show dryer conditions.

*These models continue to change. It’ll be much easier to forecast accurately later this week. Just something to follow as the game gets near.

What kind of jabbering would you expect from a place that tried to trademark the word “the” as part of their name?

Haven't been to SE Ohio because I stay far away from H*ntingt*n (white africa) id imagine it would not be that nice there if that's in their area but maybe Ohio built a wall? Maybe I'm wrong since the good ones willing to work of H*ntingt*n in that area flocked to Ohio and Cincinnati. I'd like to know because that east point of Kentucky certainly is tweakerville in Pike CO but haven't seen the Ohio side. If you ever get near Htown turn around

It was laughable to me too when I moved up here. In reality, they are pretty comparable to what they have at Ober Gatlinburg. A few runs, nothing too advanced and a nice snow tubing park. Most of the people who go skiing in Ohio are transplants from east coast states with decent ski resorts.

When I moved up to Columbus from Knoxville in 2010, I was shocked to find out Meth wasn't as big a problem as it was in East Tennessee. There are a handful of occasion meth busts in SE Ohio, but the area is much better known for its long running cannabis crops. The Meigs County Gold strain has been sold in Amsterdam Hash bars for the past four decades.

I bet they make it pretty steep but then the run is quick? I looked it up and wow it looks a lot better than that Campbell Hill, you guys need to reiterate that the hill is elevated before the hill itself. I pissed myself almost when I googled "Campbell Hill". Type that on Google and they show some Alaska mountain first it's a good laugh

Projected high/low in Columbus on the 21st............37/26
Projected high/low in Knoxville on the 21st........... 44/29

lol....Not that much of a difference, and that difference is pretty much in the same range every day between now and them.

The whole cold/bad weather angle is comical.
It would be like us claiming they couldn't handle the heat and humidity in an early Sep. game.

Maybe you guys did build a wall around that sh*thole in westWV. Electric fence?

Brother, if you want to be a Buckeye sympathizer, I'm not going to stop you. I'm not going to try to convince an irrational group that has dug in their heels on being the center of the universe that they're not. Every fanbase has that to an extent but they're the worst of them all in that regard. I hope we smack them in the mouth at their place and they get to cry about it all offseason.

I knew I'd be right about the huntington-Ohio zone. You guys need to barricade this zone, fentanyl overdoses. The light region is due to it being a forrest, i know this because having [anywhere in] western WV in the "nice" shade is for the same reason

Agreed, I said similar ina separate post.

It’s comical as to the transfers they have that would be in the same predicament our players would be in.🤦‍♂️
