What qb should start against UGA next weekend?

It's because we have so much invested in him that it would be foolish to throw him out to the wolves in that game. He's a true freshman and this is a marathon, not a sprint. You wanna start him against Vandy after we fall to 7-4, I'm fine with that. It won't happen because Heup isn't going to bench Joe Milton on Senior Day in Neyland Stadium, but in theory, I'd be fine with Nico finishing out the year by getting that start and then all the bowl prep reps and starting the bowl game. But starting him at UGA is foolish. You won't change my mind on that.

Georgia at home in Neyland is not throwing the wolves. Especially behind a senior laden offensive line….. I’m sorry if I fail to blindly follow the narrative that Nico is too fragile to play against Georgia….

He is gonna play teams just as talented as them sooner or later. There is no downside to him getting it over with now. Even if he does get hurt as everyone claims he’s at risk of, we have an entire offseason to heal.

Should? I would argue for Nico. Some would make arguments about how it could affect his health or whatever, but the kid is going to lead our 2024 and likely 2025 team. Get the kid as many reps as you can.

I agree he should be getting all the reps he can get, but I think it would be very unfair to Nico to start against Ga. I thouhgt Nico should have been brought in when todays games was out of reach to win. But I would start him against Vandy

Why? Time to put Milton in the rear view mirror and start looking towards the future. I just hope Milton comoleted his degree why he was here, because he probably wont have much of a future in the NFL. I think Gurrantano could have put up more than 6 against this Mizzou team.
Atlanta: not happening
Playoffs: not happening
Bowl game: yeah, okay great

lol yeah I agree about him and the NFL…
Ha! I dunno about that. JG threw many INTs. This team flat out gave up today. Hopefully we can recruit some Jennings type mentality players in the offseason and from the portal. Go Vols!

Your first start against the #1 team in the country, and two-time defending national championship is the very definition of being thrown to the wolves. I don't care if it's played in Neyland Stadium, Sanford Stadium, or the moon.

No need to apologize for refusing to blindly follow anything. You have your opinion and I have mine, and I'm not here trying to convince you of my opinion. You engaged me by quoting my post. You don't have to like my opinion, and you don't have to acknowledge the downside (no matter how obvious) to Nico getting the start. That's your right.

He’s almost gotten beat a few times this year too. Won his first road game by 7 points. Fortunately for him every position on Georgia roster has NFL talent. He’s playing much better now
You are absolutely right, Beck started out slow and it took a few games to really get going, and he had 4 and 5 star players all around him. We don't have that luxury. Start Nico at Vandy and the bowl game.

Does it matter? That’s really the first question.

Planning for the future….you probably don’t throw in you true fresh QB.

Playing fir now….maybe you do. You know Joe can’t get it done. He’s proven that.

Do we still care about meaningless bowl wins? I’m not sure we do.

I see it differently. Not giving him a chance to inspire some confidence within the program and within himself is what puts the future in jeopardy.

You can’t just lock him in a shed until you’re ready to start winning and expect him to com out looking like a Heisman candidate
There’s definitely something to what you’re saying. Personally I just prefer to give him another year in strength and conditioning and another year in the system where maybe he gets the ball out a little sooner and takes less hits. Play him against Vandy if you want but I wouldn’t make his first start vs Georgia. Just crazy imho.

This senior laden OL has helped the stable of RBs get a combined 219 yards in the 3 losses. If that veteran of an OL is that poor against those 3, what makes you think they'll suddenly do that much better against UGA to take the pressure off Nico?

Okay then. Live in fear and treat Nico as some newborn fawn who needs to be spoonfed for every little thing.

I don’t think our line is as bad as they looked today. I don’t think they are as good as they looked in the first half on the road vs Bama.

Y’all Mf’s Love to live in misery.

playing at home means no noise or environment issues. And getting to play against some top tier talent.

I’m sorry yall want him on a pair of $2m training wheels

The misery is watching this highly touted stable of RBs have an individual high of 63 yards in these 3 losses and ZERO scores. Where are the pitchforks to have them replaced for their garbage showings? Milton had 825 yards and 5 scores in those 3 losses, along with leading the team in rushing in 2 of them. He's not the issue, yet so many of you are scapegoating him and are accepting piss-poor play from the other 10 out there.

Scoring only 6 points and turning the ball over aint going to win many games.

We are a different team at home. We have not lost in Neyland in 2 years. All while having most of the same line in those 2 years. There will be zero environment issues for our offense in Neyland as opposed to on the road.

All while getting to play against one of the top teams in the land. But you’re right. Let’s go into a game we are fully expecting to lose with nothing on the line and not play the $2m per year QB of the future behind a very experienced line and trio running back stable because we are scared he might get a booboo.

Nico. Joe had his chances and it is what it is. Nico is special. Could go out there and beat UGA as a freshman special.

Milton. No way in hell I start Nico versus Georgia.

Just dumb to put your future in jeopardy right now. After Georgia then let him get some snaps.

Why would playing Nico put our jeopardy in future? Lol an injury? He could get an injury playing Vandy or anybody. Nico can beat Georgia if the defense bothers showing up.

Start Milton against UGA, but put in Nico as soon as we're down two scores in the second half. We're getting ready for 2024.

Then Nico gets Vandy and the bowl.

Let Milton and his fans have their last hurrah with the Bulldogs. Tall task for an inexperienced rookie to make his first start against a team like GA this year.

Let Milton get beat up by Georgia, then start Nico against Vandy and in the Music City Bowl.
I'll say it again. When UGA is awake and interested, they're the best team in the country. Joe will be lucky to come out of the UGA game healthy. Based on what I saw of UGA vs Ole Miss, I won't be surprised if Nico has to start vs Vandy.

Not start. But if UGA gets out of reach I’d give him and maybe Gaston reps. Give Nico the reins against Vandy

We’re paying him 8 million for a reason. He’s gonna have a lot of “tall tasks”. He’s a rookie maybe but he’s special. Didn’t Bryce Young live up to the moment as a freshman? Trevor Lawrence? He’s in that category. The difference is CJH is being way to loyal to Joe.
