What I'm saying is this season isn't "over" for TN, like you insist it is.They have a starter who was viewed as a preseason Heisman contender and are still alive for the CFP. Are you seriously saying Texas and Tennessee’s seasons are in the exact same place? Don’t tell me you are saying that Texas who is still alive for the CFP with Ewers is equal to 7-3 Tennessee who has no conference or CFP possibilities and it doesn’t matter how we finish this season. are you really saying that?
I actually think ppl just talk to hear themselves talk, everyone could take partial blame but we lost this game mostly because the D couldn't tackle a 5'9" guy that probably runs a 4-9 40 or something like that, they were too embarrassed to tell. Really the 40 time IMO is dumb if a back has a quick first step that's main thing initially . That dude #7 will never out run DBs for a long TD but he made our LBs look really slow especially #44.Good grief. If the defense and running game had been marginally competent, we win the game. Joe was bad to start the season, but he’s played plenty well the last few weeks to win.
The game was long over, and out of reach when that pick was thrown. Not sure the fumble could be his fault when clearly the back ran into his throwing motion.Well Milton did have a fumble and an interception that directly led to 14 points being scored against us so I would not say that none of yesterday was his fault.
Milton. When it gets out of hand start playing young players across the board, including Nico. It will give them an idea how far we have to go and may motivate them to work harder in the off season and aspire to be more than a decent football team. Time to move on from the seniors on this roster (or most of them).Well?
I agree. And I blame everybody for yesterday's loss including Milton. The game was long over, and out of reach when that pick was thrown. Not sure the fumble could be his fault when clearly the back ran into his throwing motion.
But, you blame whoever you want, the games over and the outcomes not going to change. The point stands that it would be coaching malpractice to start Nico against Georgia.
What I'm saying is this season isn't "over" for TN, like you insist it is.
There's zero reason to pull Joe to "try Nico" because he's really not ready to run the offense better than Joe.
That is the case per Josh Heupel who, whether you think so or not, has a better view of his QBs AND far more experience developing QBs than you or anyone else here.
Thanks Coach Squibb. Where's your successes and losses record. We aren’t making NY6, we aren’t making Atlanta. What exactly is there to play for in the final 3 games of the season that is going to be of value in 2024? The only value to 2024 we can provide in these final 3 games is film study and experience for the guys who will be starting next year.
Trying to keep the moral victories is dumb.
Finishing 9-4/8-5 with guys who will be starting next year is much more valuable than finishing that same record with guys who won’t be here next year and subsequently starting a lot of guys next year with no real experience.
Okay. So the QB doesn’t matter vs Georgia. THANK YOU. If the QB don’t matter, having the QB who is going to face this type of team for 2/3 of the schedule the next two years seems like a good thing to have in a throwaway game.
And once again, you guys think he is too fragile to go against Georgia this year but somehow won’t be next year simply because our OOC schedule do Kent State, NC State, UTEP, and Chatt are gonna be perfect tune up games to prep our team for SEC play
Considering the season is over because we aren’t playing for anything significant in the final 3 games, it would be great to get guys who will be starters next year a lot of playing time. Especially when there is no downside for losing considering you all have guaranteed a loss vs Georgia. Thanks Coach Squibb. Where's your successes and losses record.
Why aren't we just starting ALL the guys coming back next year from here on then? It makes sense by your logic to pull all the guys who won't be here regardless of whether they have the chops to play now or not.
Ridiculous.
This notion that every year is "over" when a team loses the chance to play in an NY6 or playoff is pretty amazing. We aren’t making NY6, we aren’t making Atlanta. This is just a bad take. Sorry, have fun with your 8-4 teams. We had that with Butch Jones. No thanks hard pass. This notion that every year is "over" when a team loses the chance to play in an NY6 or playoff is pretty amazing.
It reduces every year to a rebuilding year UNLESS you're within the top 12 teams in the country, essentially. Wow. Just wow.

Why risk Nico sustaining a devastating injury that knocks him out of playing at all next year just to get "experience" in a game that clearly won't matter and will only give him a warped sense of what his success should look like. There's no point in letting him be a tackling dummy out there. That's not the kind of experience we should want him to deal with all off season.Better question. Do you think Milton could lead the team to victory? I don't.
Why not start building the future.
Would a change hurt the morale in the locker room?
So you think it's a good idea to just start "looking at next year" if you're pretty sure your team is a 8-4/,9-3 team from the get go.This is just a bad take. Sorry, have fun with your 8-4 teams. We had that with Butch Jones. No thanks hard pass.
I also think you’re struggling to come up with a way to claim that playing for a better non NY6 bowl is somehow a more important thing than getting a head start on 2024. You’re totally entitled to but no one with a straight face can say that “playing for a better non NY6 bowl is a bigger and more important thing than getting Nico starting reps he can take into the offseason”…. By all means go ahead and try to justify that one. This notion that every year is "over" when a team loses the chance to play in an NY6 or playoff is pretty amazing.

We aren't at the start, dude lol. Only 2 games left. You telling me I can't call the season now when I know exactly how the rest of the year will go? I've seen all of this team I need to see to know exactly what they are and begin hoping that next year we have better players and Heupel can coach them up right. So you think it's a good idea to just start "looking at next year" if you're pretty sure your team is a 8-4/,9-3 team from the get go.
Screw it. Play the new guys because we're not going anywhere anyway. Maybe we'll strike gold next year. That's a crazy method for building a team. If they aren't "IT" from the very start, screw it......look to next year.
Yes, there is something I can say: no significant coach of a major program EVER does what you're suggesting.Or we have a potential generational talent in the wings and now that any significant achievement for this year is lost (NY6/Atlanta), we have a chance to get the next multi year starter some action against a type of talent he is gonna be playing against for years to come…
there is nothing you can say that proves there is something to play for in these final 3 games that would be more impactful than getting Nico experience on film he can use in the offseason to prepare for his first year as full time starter.
There is nothing in these final 3 games that directly provides value to the preparation for the 2024 season.
Dabo did with Lawrence. Saban did with Tua. Kirby did with Fields to a degree. Michigan did with McCarthy and Cade. So much for saying there has never been a coach ever to hand it over to their 5 star mid season! Hell Dabo did it last year with DJ and Klubnik!Yes, there is something I can say: no significant coach of a major program EVER does what you're suggesting.
That's not me. That's decent coaches. It just doesn't happen that a coach says: well guys, this season is screwed and I appreciate the work all you guys have done, but I'm looking to next year so everyone who isn't back next year might as well turn in your gear........ we're playing for next year from here out.
What kind of coach would do that?
You want it to be mid season now.....not the end.Dabo did with Lawrence. Saban did with Tua. Kirby did with Fields to a degree. Michigan did with McCarthy. So much for saying there has never been a coach ever to hand it over to their 5 star mid season!
