What South Carolina forums think of Joe Milton

I will never understand why any coach or player would want to come to this university. We have a section of this fanbase that would like nothing better for any aspect of this team to fail, just so they have a platform to spew their bile and make themselves feel better about whatever is broken in their lives. Regardless of what some on here delude themselves about, there are eyes on our site that take note as well. Coaches ( current or potential), players, and yes even recruits. If I had a choice between two or three teams and I saw the vitriol vomited up on here, I would choose any other team. You use South Carolina's chat board to prove your point? I guarantee they, and every other SEC school, use ours against us in recruiting.
Yeah-Kirby Smart is printing screenshots of Volnation and sharing them with recruits in their living rooms.

He’s completing more than he don’t…

In the flat. Lol

Great to see the Miltonites showing up.
Another dreadful game passing by Milton and here they come anyway.
It’s the WRs. It’s the Refs. It’s the line. It’s the fans.
No. It’s Joe.
So many missed throws to wide open WRs yesterday for TDs.
All he completed were throws in the flat and a shovel pass.
The next four games will be brutal. Passes on the flat aren’t gonna get it done.
And other teams are gonna start jumping those too.

I’ve quoted the above part of your post to add, what then of the passes dropped by Vol receivers? We saw several instances where a passed ball struck them in the hands and fell incomplete. How would you have us regard these?
Well obviously in his mind they are catches since they should have been caught!

Again, he’s running the called plays, admittedly I didn’t think after the knee injury bringing him out in the second half was necessary, thought it would have been a good time to get Nico some meaningful snaps. After the knee injury he didn’t look comfortable in the pocket and it was evident. He says he’s good and I hope he is. But the stupidity of the statement “

is evident when you look back at the first half before the injury. 48 yarder to Keyton, dart to Webb, and a multitude of other throws to white, Warren, & Castles. A lot of people just want to paint the narrative they’ve had set in their minds since 2021.

People are tribal and a lot of them are broken. They attach themselves to something in order to “fix” what is broken. Some need the win and become Bama fans (or whoever is winning) some need the drama so they pick an up and down program where they can spew their hate. When it goes bad they get to feel like they were right.
2sides of the same coin
Yep, agree with all of this. I have a family that's daughter plays on my girls team. Great ppl that have a front Bama tag on car wear bama Hats/shirts etc.. and bama stadium seats etc.. So I was sitting near the mom one game and asked these ? over a period of time during a game.
1. Did your husband attend Bama= No graduated from Tenn. Tech
2. Oh your the big Bama grad, No I went to ETSU
3. So 1 of you probably grew up in Alabama, No never lived there
4. So I guess the grandparents are Bammers, No they are native Tennesseans.
5. Well why are you all Tennessean's big Bama fans, well we wanted to pick a team that wins all the time its a lot more fun and red is my favorite color.

Without the negas, we wouldn’t get your tantrums 10 times a week.

I love seeing you flail, and thrash about. It’s become one of my favorite things about VN.

To be fair a lot of those called plays are the result of a qb and oline being incapable of running the offense we did last year.

Almost everyone in the SEC knows Milton sucks except a large percentage of our delusional fanbase it seems. Yes i call them delusional because they also supported JG for YEARS.

It's not rocket science guys. Milton is a terrible downfield passer. I think it's a mental issue with him.

He thinks too much.He just needs to freakin play backyard style and run more and sling it down field more. Screw these lame flat passes.

SEC defenses are going to jump a few for pick sixes.

Yesterday, the defender jumped it, but dropped it.... would have been a very easy pick six but he dropped it. In my mind i count that as an interception because he should have caught it.

Milton is not very good unless he's scrambling around a lot to open things up. His knees seems faulty though.
I don’t know anyone here who supported JG for years

It’s all true. Milton is not a good passer. Pretty much all there is to it.

I think going with Milton is the only significant mistake Heupel has made as coach here and now he’s repeated the same mistake again. I don’t know if it’s arrogance? Or being stubborn?

At this point, I think we just have to ride with them because it is a complex offensive system that requires time to learn. Setting up protections and knowing where to go with the ball based on the looks the defense is giving you, etc.

But we’ve seen enough of Milton to know exactly what he is. He just can’t consistently throw accurate passes. It’s that simple. Many of us worried coming into the year this would be the case. I convinced myself that if anybody could turn him into a great quarterback it’s heupel. But we’ve seen guys like JG that have great size, learn the playbook, and are great leaders but just are unable to consistently make routine throws.

I feel like for his career Milton misses more wide-open, receivers 20 yards plus down the field then he hits. Honestly, I don’t even think it’s close. It feels like he only connects on one out of three or so. Today there were five deep shot wide open, and he missed them all. The pass to Keyton wasn’t wide open, but he put a little air under it and Keaton made a great play. He missed all the other defensive breakdown deep throws as well as at least 2 short/intermediate throws that would’ve went for touchdowns.

He’s a good kid and a good leader. I think he does a good job getting the teams in the right look most of the time. But it’s just not a good passer. I think Heupel just got so enamored with his size and arm strength that he didn’t even consider the most fundamental trait a quarterback must possess. It’s like a shooting guard in basketball that is 6’6”
and has a 40 inch vertical… but is a very poor shooter. At the end of the day… Give me the less physically capable guy that has a pure shooting stroke.
Heupel has made several mistakes. Going with Milton this season is one, but I can understand it. Milton knows the system and has the arm. He just hedged his bets that Milton could operate this offense effectively. Two big mistakes are not getting more help from the portal at OL and the secondary. Those 3 things combined will be our undoing this season. I just wish this team was more physical and tough especially on the lines of scrimmage.

Why are you mentioning our WRs?

I'm saying if we keep throwing those outs to the flats SEC coordinators will have their defenses ready to jump a few of those for pick sixes. I don't even blame that on Milton. I blame the OC and Heupel.

SEC defenses?

The Roadrunners nearly had a pick six on one of those outs yesterday that would have made it 31-21.

Its about time to shelf that play for awhile.

Bama had several NC teams with only mediocre qb's. Surely we can win 9 with a mediocre qb
But they had a 3 deep roster of 4-5 star players at every position.

Just check any year.

Were some of y'all too drunk to see the 2 dimes he dropped deep yesterday that the receivers (again) failed to haul in?

Doesn't fit the narrative and anyone that says anything in a positive light about him loved Guarantano and is an apologist in this thread apparently.

I'm far from a Milton fan, I just like irony, hence the handle LOL.

But it shouldn't be beyond the realm of comprehension that maybe Nico isn't ready and there have been a ton of mistakes by players on offense not named Milton so far this year.
