What teams are we rooting for this weekend?

How is it that Texas couldn't drop below us if Georgia dominates them again? Regardless, I'm pulling for Georgia. We will see how it all shakes out after this weekend

Better chance a 3 loss UGA team drops below us considering they are only one spot ahead of us than Texas who is several spots ahead of us.

Ga. being "blown out? Not happening, may lose but not blown out. Penn St. win or lose they will stay put above us ( note the location of team they gotta have a home team up there). As for Ohio St., they may end up sending them down here. Not that far a trip and some what better weather. They will bring all the fans and more for the number of tickets they get.

We just don't know but either UGA or PSU could lose by double digits and I disagree that Penn St would not drop below us if they do.

Trying to figure out which outcomes give UT the best chance to host a playoff game??
I really don't care as long as Bama doesn't get in. I can't believe some pundits are suggesting they're in. The 3 touchdown defeat to a bad Oklahoma team should keep the tree-killing, tea-bagging, sucker-punchers out of the damn playoffs.

Saw this projection somewhere. No way they do this to Texas and UGA. This would mean Texas next game would likely be a 3rd game vs UGA, and 2nd in a row. I really think they will shuffle seeding based on match ups. How do you do that here?
5 ND v 12 Bama
6 UGA v 11 ASU
7 PSU v Indiana (didn’t play in reg season)

If UGA loses I have them in the 8/9 game.

It looks like these are the only games that matter to us.
I think Penn State is unlikely to move below us but we can still hold out some hope there.
Georgia seems very likely to move below us with a loss to Texas
If Oregon beats PSU handily, I don't see how the committee could justify keeping them above Tennessee. If it's close, with the potential for an upset, they stay above us.

I think we likely want the top seeded teams to beat the lower seeded teams decisively. And we certainly don't want anyone not in the field currently to win because that would like bump us down a seed every time it happens.
Not so: all the teams that could potentially lost to a team not currently in the field are currently ranked below us, so the loser won’t be ahead of us regardless. As such, the ACC, Big 12, and G5 conference championships are irrelevant to our seeding.

I think the only shot that Tenn could get the 5 seed is if Georgia and Oregon obliterate Texas and Penn State. I think they'd say "OK, Tenn and Texas are about even but Texas lost badly twice to Georgia worse than Tenn did" whereas Georgia would still stay above Tenn IMO. Penn St would stay above Tenn too unless the committee just really thought they looked so terrible they'd drop below Tenn. I don't see either happening. I'm also not sure if they drop them below OSU. But even then, I don't see #5 as realistic because they'd give it to ND.
We can't get the #5 seed.

Notre Dame has it locked down. There is no way to nudge them off that spot.

Edit: okay, one way to push ND down a notch. Just one way. But it doesn't benefit the Vols. Oregon and Penn State play a very close game, maybe even overtime close, but Penn State wins. In that instance, it is possible--not for sure, but possible--that Penn State could rise to #2 after the SEC champ, and Oregon could tuck in right behind Penn State at #3.

Then the ranking could be:
#1 - SEC Champ
#2 - B10 Champ (Penn St)
#3 - B10 runner-up (Oregon)
#4 - Notre Dame
#5 - Tennessee or the SEC runner-up
#6 - SEC runner up or Tennessee

And the seeding would be:
#1 SEC Champ
#2 B10 Champ
#3 some other champ
#4 some other champ
#5 Oregon
#6 Notre Dame
#7 and #8, Vols and the SEC runner-up in whatever order.

Need Texas to stomp UGA.

If that happened, this seems to be fair. Prevents rematches.

1 - Oregon
2 -Texas
3 - SMU
4 - Boise
5 - ND
6 - PSU
7- OSU
8 - TN
9 - Indiana
10 - UGA
11 - Miami/Bama
12 - Iowa St/Arizona State

Probably repeating what has already been said but I think we just need one of the teams above us to lose to ensure we host. We should be rooting against, Arizona State, Georgia, SMU, and Penn State

I still don’t think we move ahead of Georgia with head to head, so I’d say root for Georgia beating Texas by 3+ touchdowns, longhorns best win would be @ a likely unranked 4 loss A&M, with their 2 losses being blowouts to Georgia, comparatively we would have only lost by 14 to Georgia

Also a bad Penn state loss likely puts them back below Ohio state, so depending on where Ohio state is tonight we could move up to the 7, though I still believe Ohio state will be above us with much better wins

Texas isn’t dropping beneath us. No matter the score. We have a better chance of moving up if Georgia gets obliterated. It would weaken their previous win over Texas and add another loss to their record.

Of course Bama would get the cakewalk to the semis 🤢

CFP website says the rankings are not to be made considering rematches or conference opponents, fwiw
