What teams are we rooting for this weekend?

We can't get the #5 seed.

Notre Dame has it locked down. There is no way to nudge them off that spot.

Edit: okay, one way to push ND down a notch. Just one way. But it doesn't benefit the Vols. Oregon and Penn State play a very close game, maybe even overtime close, but Penn State wins. In that instance, it is possible--not for sure, but possible--that Penn State could rise to #2 after the SEC champ, and Oregon could tuck in right behind Penn State at #3.

Then the ranking could be:
#1 - SEC Champ
#2 - B10 Champ (Penn St)
#3 - B10 runner-up (Oregon)
#4 - Notre Dame
#5 - Tennessee or the SEC runner-up
#6 - SEC runner up or Tennessee

And the seeding would be:
#1 SEC Champ
#2 B10 Champ
#3 some other champ
#4 some other champ
#5 Oregon
#6 Notre Dame
#7 and #8, Vols and the SEC runner-up in whatever order.
I didn't think of ND until after I posted. I just meant the best way to get really high is those 2 games feature a blowout.

I have a feeling that the SEC championship game loser will fall behind ohio st and 1 spot in front of Vols. Instant elimination of an sec team in playoffs.

I do not see a scenario that has us with home game in playoff.

Correct. No matter what we are not getting a home game.
Most likely not smh. Unless Texas obliterates Georgia but yeah Vols are gonna have to go on the road. Welp, if it is OSU, let’s go. We match up well with them. Their secondary holds a lotttttt. They have a good receiver room but we have a great defense. Bring it on.

It depends. If Texas annihilates Georgia or if Oregon does the same to Penn State, we could bump up a spot. I think we are hoping the higher ranked team blows out the lower ranked opponent in games were both are ranked ahead of us. In games where both teams are ranked below, we probably want the lower ranked team to win close.

If we fall back the 10 seed, we would likely be playing Notre Dame in south bend and that seems like a better matchup and an easier path to me than going through the cream of the big 10 in the first few games.

I have watched Notre Dame several times this year and they are not as bad as some on here believe. I think they beat any team in the big ten, so I'm not so sure we would want to play them right now.

Even if George loses in a close one to Texas that gives them three losses, even tho one loss in s a championship game. Would that not be enough to drop them a spot or two behind us? If we have to go play on the road, it is what it is. I think the biggest thing that may hurt us is the cold weather having to go up north.

they need to find their physicality again if they do live on the road.

I want UNLV, Clemson and everyone in a conference championship ranked lower than bammer to win and knock Bammer out.
This is exactly what I’m hoping for. Being at 9 two weeks in a row tells me they aren’t moving us up….hope I’m wrong.

If Georgia gets beat by Texas they would fall to 8. Only if it’s super close Georgia might not fall much. In that scenario where they fall to 8 we would host Georgia in Neyland more than likely. I don’t think Texas or Penn St will drop enough to help us barring them getting boat raced. But a Georgia loss is more than likely going to drop them from 5 to 8 in my opinion.
