What teams are we rooting for this weekend?

Tennessees luck it’ll be snowing in Columbus and raining like pouring piss out a boot in Eugene.
I wouldn’t expect anything less. Hey we’re in the playoffs, I don’t care where how or why we are relevant again and that’s all I can ask for.

If that’s the case Sampson better have plenty of gas in the tank and tread on the tires. It’s gonna be or should be a heavy lean on him.

If we are ranked 6/seeded 8 tonight, I hope the conference championships are close games and nobody drops. Give me Ohio State in Neyland and a shot at the Rose Bowl.
There is not a scenario we jump Ohio State and host that game. We can both benefit by someone else losing or whatever and we move a seed line or someone falls back in between our seeding creating a different pairing. But if they have us as 9 and Ohio State 8 there is not a way to swap that. To host a game it will have to be some changes that drop someone in front of us.

I posted that nearly 12 hours before the CFP ranking came out, but thanks for explaining the blatantly obvious to me.

It looks like these are the only games that matter to us.
I think Penn State is unlikely to move below us but we can still hold out some hope there.
Georgia seems very likely to move below us with a loss to Texas
Doubt it unless GA gets blown out

Even if George loses in a close one to Texas that gives them three losses, even tho one loss in s a championship game. Would that not be enough to drop them a spot or two behind us? If we have to go play on the road, it is what it is. I think the biggest thing that may hurt us is the cold weather having to go up north.
I doubt they penalize GA for losing a close game that Tennessee couldn't make it to. Doesn't make sense.

Would GA have been in the top 12 had they lost to GT? Obviously, they could have gotten back in by beating TX on the SECCG….but would they have gotten the same love as Bama?

I have watched Notre Dame several times this year and they are not as bad as some on here believe. I think they beat any team in the big ten, so I'm not so sure we would want to play them right now.
I dont think they are bad but I don't think they should be able to host a game period. You can cherry pick your schedule. Yes I know they played at Texas A&M and USC which typically is better than they are now. However in conferences you may be forced to play difficult games back to back to back. Notre Dame can separate theirs to place focus on the important games and get guys healthy. On top of all that they have the worst loss in the entire field. Yet the committee is rewarding them instead of sending the message of join a conference or from now on you need to play many solid opponents instead of pick and choose and get cheap wins against the service academies.

Wouldn’t we need GA to beat TX?
1. ORE
2. GA
3. SMU
4. Boise St

5. ND
6. OSU
7. TX
8. TN

9. PENN ST
10. IND
11. BAMA
12. AZU

We just don't know but either UGA or PSU could lose by double digits and I disagree that Penn St would not drop below us if they do.
I have been under the impression that no championship game was to figure into the lay off lineup.

The chairman guy said it absolutely could change based on the outcomes (i.e. data points) from those games. If UGA or PSU gets rolled they will drop.

Pull for Oregon and Texas. We don’t know how much the committee will ding the losers, but those are our best shots at it.
The past 10 years, after the conference championship games the committee has dropped the loser about 1-2 spots on average; 3 if there wasn’t anything holding them up based on their schedule other than them being undefeated (ie. just because they were undefeated and from a Power conference)

(and in 2 cases, 4 or 5 spots because the teams refused to schedule another then-Power-5 out of conference opponents and had instead just filled their out of conference schedule with an FCS team and mid-major/Group of 5 teams.)
