What was up with the call on the Fant to Hyatt TD?

My opinion, it was coach Heupel's way of getting Fant something else on film for the NFL scouts.
I've seen a LOT of NFL teams using the TE more and working that passing skill set onto game film does nothing but help the man's draft stock.

it was a pretty pass....he spun it.

Fant throws a pretty ball honestly. I don't even think he played any QB in high school, but idk. A fun play for sure

I think this staff thinks it will be great for the second half if they can develop another dimension to the offense, and they feel Fant is the guy. They've been using him as a RB and now a passer. It sure gives the opponent another headache to prepare for.

It was to give KY & GA another play to study & plan for; probably never see it again, but he knows that the more you show the harder it is to prepare !

It wasn't quite as pretty as Von Reeves to Carl Pickens in the 1990 45-3 win over Spurrier's Gators but it was still a great play and I tend to believe it did carry a little bit of a message. The handshake after the game was ver quick and appeared to be a little less than cordial.

Great memory.

I noticed that neither coach stopped walking during that quick handshake. lol.

Well the game started and UTM scored and went for a onside kick. They also tryed some cute gimmick plays that blew up in their face. It was a gentle reminder that Jeremy Pruitt is no longer the coach and the times where small teams could come into Neyland and do some cute stuff and keep the game close till the end of the 4th are over. If Pruitt was still here that game would have been 24-21 barn burner

All I know is Fant as a fullback/half back is going to get him in the NFL. Feel like Huepel using him in the offense well.

I have heard Fant’s name more the past two weeks than in any game before. He has so much talent. Glad to see his persistence and loyalty to the program despite all the turmoil is finally getting him visibility as fast as his massive versatility.

May have missed this brought up already but seem to recall something happened during the recruitment of Ty where the family/dad was either backhanded complimentary of, or outright disparaging of CJH. Wouldnt let him even start to recruit Ty once hired?

I noticed that also and though it seemed strange! Anyone ever figure out what the deal was with Hyatt when he was brough out of game?

I’m not sure, but from what I saw, Hyatt seemed to be angry with the UTM defender on that play. The DB tried to rip the ball out of Hyatt’s hands, and it continued after Hyatt was out of bounds. Maybe in the process, he hit Hyatt in the chin or something.
