1966 UT-UK at Neyland as a 12yo kid. We had Dickey as coach, and Dewey Warren as QB. UK had the great Dickie Lyons, WR/PuntReturner. Never will forget how big the stadium looked when I walked in.

Just a change of pace. I am sure it has already been asked, but damn, we need to talk about something fun.

I was born in 1976.

My first game was in 1988.

Duke beat our Vols at Neyland. I was young, but it stuck with me. Long ride back to Nashville.

Lets get some answers and see who went the earliest. I know we have some oldies on here. No offense, of course.

You know who their coach was right?

I've been a fan for a long time, even though I'm 33, and it saddens me to say my first to see the Vols play was 2 seasons ago in Memphis. I finally got to see the wonderful sight of Neyland Stadium last season at Homecoming against MTSU.

2001 I think, against Miami. Tennessee got killed. I think I was 6 or 7. I think my 2nd was the Wilhoit FG vs Florida though.

In 90’ my Mom moved us out to Tennessee and I got my first taste of the Vols. In 91’ my mother-in-law (who hasn’t missed a game since 73’) gave my wife and I her extra tickets. It was against Vandy. It was Carl Pickens and Andy Kelly’s last game in Neyland Stadium. I can still remember pulling up to the stadium on that bus, the sea of Orange I saw was amazing. I had never seen anything like it in my life. I found out on that day there is no place in the world like Neyland Stadium on any given Saturday during football season. My blood turned orange on that day!

First game was 1974 - Liberty Bowl - I was 11. A drunk guy sat behind me who was hilarious. UT played Maryland - UT won. Close game. Hollaway was the QB. Froze my buns off, but the guy behind me felt nothing.

I was also at that UT/Duke game. Very embarrassing. Glimpse of what the Ole' Ball Coach (or sack depending) was going to do to us in most meetings. Long drive back to Memphis.

1971 in Lexington, KY. Lived in Cincinnati, so Lex was near.

1975 was 1st game at Neyland. We beat Auburn 21-17. Auburn was our 2nd biggest rival, behind Bama, in those days. I thought the stadium was huge, even though it probably only held around 74,000 - 75,000 at that time.

1957 - Georgia Tech. We won 21-6.

I had just turned 6 in October. Everything seemed so big. I vividly remember the old Rambling Wreck that drove across the field and the Tennessee Walking horse that used to be a mainstay of the games in the old days.

As a tradition we [have] taken each of our grandkids to their first game @ the ages of 5/6. We have one left that has not aged-up yet.
