Late 80's, went in Marines in the early 90's and didn't attend another game until the Arkansas game in 1998.

Nov. 8, 1969, Homecoming against S Carolina
We won and were ranked #3 by AP I think. UT finished 9-2 that year. We have had season tickets since the early 1970's.

My friends dad took us to the 85' Bama game in Birmingham. We rode down from Franklin in their 70 GTO. Awesome ride and a huge Win! My first UT football experience.

Dont remember, but Bill Rudder was in the backfield and it was a home game against Candy. Brutally cold had a blanket and bottle of Jack to keep warm.

The game that Peyton Manning got his jersey retired. I think it was 2005. It was against South Carolina where Arian Foster fumbled on the last drive resulting in a close loss.

Still an amazing day. I got to meet Peyton, Fulmer and a few others on the Vol Walk. Peyton absolutely lived up to the hype and even to this day is the only person I have been awestruck by.

1st Sep. 6, 1980 vs Georgia Led 15-0 Lost 16-15 Hershel/Bill Bates
2nd Sep. 13, 1980 vs USC Lost 20-17 after Steve Alatorre threw an int. on our last drive which led to a game losing FG as time expired

Not a good time to start going to games

Just a change of pace. I am sure it has already been asked, but damn, we need to talk about something fun.

I was born in 1976.

My first game was in 1988.

Duke beat our Vols at Neyland. I was young, but it stuck with me. Long ride back to Nashville.

Lets get some answers and see who went the earliest. I know we have some oldies on here. No offense, of course.

Define oldie! I was at that Duke game - finished off a whole half pint of Dickel just to get through that d*** game.
First game was in 1980 or 81 - can't remember which year right off the bat. We beat Wichita State by only two. The Shockers no longer have a football team. We were not that good, but they were a lot better than what we have now.

1984:

Tennessee 28
Alabama 27

Tony Robinson led the Vols to two 4th quarter TDs to wipeout a 13-point Alabama lead. I was a little boy and Neyland Stadium was so loud I cried the whole way home. What a great day--I'll never forget it.

1978 vs. Notre Dame. Never will forget it. We flew from Orlando - first airline flight and first UT game. Still remember it like it was yesterday.
