I saw both of those. Wasn't that the year Georgia won the National Championship?1st Sep. 6, 1980 vs Georgia Led 15-0 Lost 16-15 Hershel/Bill Bates
2nd Sep. 13, 1980 vs USC Lost 20-17 after Steve Alatorre threw an int. on our last drive which led to a game losing FG as time expired
Not a good time to start going to games
I went with my dad to that game as a 14 year old and sat in the bleachers in what was then the open end of the stadium near the hill. There was a cannon in that end zone that was fired after touchdowns back then.November 14th 1964 we lost to Ol Miss 30-0 and finished 4-5 1964 was another bad year for the Vols and Doug Dickey's 1st year as HC
My first game was in 1988.
Duke beat our Vols at Neyland. I was young, but it stuck with me. Long ride back to Nashville.
First game was 1974 - Liberty Bowl - I was 11. A drunk guy sat behind me who was hilarious. UT played Maryland - UT won. Close game. Hollaway was the QB. Froze my buns off, but the guy behind me felt nothing.
I was also at that UT/Duke game. Very embarrassing. Glimpse of what the Ole' Ball Coach (or sack depending) was going to do to us in most meetings. Long drive back to Memphis.
