Anybody that thinks a true freshman QB that is not an EE is going to win a starting job in fall camp of an SEC school not named Kentucky has rocks for brains. Don't buy into their hype. If it happens at UT, then you know for sure the progam has hit an all time low.

OP's point is well taken. Dobbs is not a zone read QB. He is a mobile pass first QB, just like Ferguson and Peterman. Less experience with the offense than Peterman and equal to Ferguson. Dobbs may have nuclear scientist intelligence, but that is not what is required of a QB.

Dobbs seems to be our best option at Quarterback at least by next season. He is just better than the guys we have now and Ferguson is also.

How on earth do you know that?? We have 4 QBs and only 1 has played a down of college football. It floors me how people will post their personal opinion as if its a well known fact even though there's absolutely nothing to back it up.

If Butch runs what he did at Cincy, I want a QB that is able to run. We're not gonna pick apart the SEC with that offense using QBs like Case Keenum and Graham Harrell. See Colt Brennan vs. Georgia for confirmation.
Although I do like the fact Jones is very committed to the run. Very refreshing.

Because I heard that he said off the record that he wants to B!7(H slap Saban ! Just a rumour but its the attitude we need around here.

if you have the right talent and you coach it properly, you can win

the system doesn't matter.

i don't think i've seen alabama's qb leave the pocket in the saban era

May ask why u say its "refreshing"? Just wondering...

Anywho...I agree with the folks that say people see Dobbs being black and they automatically think he's gonna be great. Most of them don't know or even care about the fact that he is a smart kid. He's black and a QB...that's it. Pretty sad actually. Who knows if he will be or not. These same people would have bashed Johnny Manziel prior to the season, but if he were the same guy but black they would have loved him.

I think rocks are smarter than many VN posters. mainly because except for the ones at Racetrack Playa and Death Valley, rocks don't run around helter skelter with no idea where they're going or coming from. :)

personally i dont give a rats whoha what color our qb is. its exciting to have a pass capable and cerebral qb on roster.

both were elite 11 participants enough for me

Let the kid move into his room before he is named our best option. And lest we forget, there are more than 4 horses in this little race. Since the kid is not getting any attention so far, I get to say it first. Do not forget about Charlie High.

A lot of receiving offers from schools has to do with the amount of politicking the kid does. The kids that pursue camp opportunities are going to get the most offers. A lot of time kids that play baseball at a high level, like dobbs does, don't have time to make the rounds. People are excited about him because he's a really intelligent qb that has all the tools to be successful. He's tall and fast. Also with cbj's history of using a dual threat qb he's a great fit. What's not to like? I'm glad we got rf as well and I think those two could really push each other. And chances are we'll need both of them. Duel threat qb's are much more prone to injury, obviously, than traditional pocket passers.

I've got really bad news. We're already in that neighborhood.

He is another Brent Schafer but much smarter..... Me, personally, I prefer a pocket passer; rather than a scrambler. If you have a good offensive line, then there is no real need to scramble....
He isn't no where near as fast as Schafer. I think everyones obsession with him is that he was a 4 star prospect and that he is a borderline genius so people assume that he won't have any trouble learning the offense or reading defense

After nearly 3 years of talented but dumb, we thought we'd like to see talented and brilliant.

Also, my understanding is that Dobbs only fielded offers from schools with Aeronautics degrees, which would make his list look weaker. (I could be wrong about that, though.)
