Ocean temp here ( Naples ) is 72 today. Los Angeles is 61.

Florida wins. For me the only draw for either place is the ocean. Can't say I care at all for Naples but at least I can swim in November without a wetsuit.
When we first moved here 11 years, I made it a point to hit the Gulf at least once a month. Now not so much. You can tell tourists because they are the only one's in the water though we still go to the beach. I still laugh getting Christmas tree in flip flops.

when you are in your 20's that probably seems unattainable. When you are in your 50's you throw down a 1/4 mill. It's not a lot. You really can't do much with 250,000.

USC finally hired a real Athletic Director and looks what happens. It’s one of the top five jobs in the country.

excuse me, "europa report". also the movie "moon", staring david bowies relative. There has been a bout of quality sci fi the past few years. I watched prometheus for the fist time the other day (prolog to aliens) excellent.

I just watched Europa Report. Excellent suggestion thanks!

I spend far more time in Knoxville so I have my TN blood still. It is funny to see the true locals bundling up when it hits 65 degrees though. That's light jacket weather for the real Floridians. Coming home soon and I will change into jeans somewhere at a rest stop in Georgia most likely.

I mean if USC is paying likely 40-60 million dollars to get you and your job is gonna be comparable to where you’re at, not a bad move. USC should be a very easy school to win at with a competent coaching staff. Considering Riley is prolly a top 5-8 coach in the country right now, he should do well

Main draw from a coaching standpoint….high pay, fertile recruiting environment, worshiped like a celebrity (as long as you are winning) coupled with the fact that you only have maybe two or three games against marquee opponents. What’s NOT to love?

Is California One Of The Happiest States In The Country?

Happiness may be a state of mind, but happiness also depends on your state. While not the happiest state in the country, Californians are among the happiest in the United States, according to a new study by WalletHub.

The study compared the 50 states across 28 different categories – ranging from depression and suicide rates to sleep and sports participation – to determine where people are most happy. California ranked as the fourth happiest state in the country, according to the personal finance website's report, which looked at three main criteria: emotional and physical well-being, work environment, and community and environment.

The analysis ranked only Minnesota, Utah and Hawaii ahead of California. Nebraska came in after California, rounding out the top five happiest states, according to the study.

If people are so happy, why are they leaving?

There are also a ton of people coming into CA. Look at all the people who have left, which is significant, but their population is not shrinking.

I mean over more than just a 1 year period. One year changes are pretty noisy, especially in a pandemic year. "California is too liberal and has high taxes and high cost of living" has been a talking point for decades and their population just keeps increasing.
They have never had a one year decline. So they aren't noisy. It's just the opposite of what you claimed

LA is great to visit... mostly.

It takes a large amount of resources to make an enjoyable home in LA, and LR will have those resources, so it will work out for him. If the salary doesn't allow for accommodating LA's uniquely high cost of living, the views, the weather, and the access to wild California are absolutely not worth it.
