We're relevant now. That's why we're always in the college football discussion. The brutal nature of next year's schedule combined with losing most of the people responsible for our production on offense has been talked about enough that I don't think most of us expect to contend for the East next season. We're going to lose the bulk of the starters on both lines after next season. Given the time it usually takes to get incoming lineman strong and big enough to be an effective starter in the SEC, I'm not sure that we will have much of a DL in 2014. It just seems like the program is completely out of synch where we're constantly going back square one at some crucial area while peaking at another. We're basically at the bottom the SEC right now so how many years should it take to get this thing set to rights?
What you're really asking is when will we return to prominence. I'd say 2-3 years. Dooley, for all his faults, laid a good foundation. We just need to build the walls and roof.
