Its difficult to win a title. it should be. most P5 schools will also never have a chance to play in the CFP either. nothing wrong with that.

winning the title should be about the best teams playing each other, not some politically correct trophy given out for participation.

It seems easy enough to tie buyouts to performance, similar to bonuses, but I’m guessing no agent wants to set that precedent with a client.

Yep. There are several 1 loss P5 teams that would get in over other undefated P5 teams. If it's down to a 1 loss Ohio St. and undefated Duke team for the last playoff spot, Duke is getting left out.

Also, while certainly unlikely but still possible, the current system could have 5 undefeated P5 champions and an undefeated Notre Dame team. 2 of those teams aren't going to get a shot at the NC.

Neither did Ohio State, who lept over them in the final poll. Neither did Alabama. That's the point. This season is the exception. Most years you're dealing with one loss teams. Some of them get the benefit of the doubt. Others never had a chance

If they had gone undefeated, they would have been in. That is the point.

I disagree, but we'll never know. The playoff is about making sure the brand teams always get in, because they the ones that will draw eyes on the TV. The committee will do whatever mental gymnastics is necessary to justify the teams that they want. Everyone else gets thrown a bone. A spot in one of the other NY6 games.

What has the committee messed up, to this point?

I think there's an argument for PSU over tOSU in 2016, but outside of that, I think they've been pretty solid.

As a college football fan it is the poor state of officiating.

As a SEC fan it is the fact that nobody does anything about the cheating and favoritism given to Alabama.

As a UT fan it has to be the constant hype around a very poor product. And just remember, “it is always the fan’s fault.”
