Gee, don't see near as many people clowning on Coach O since he outrecruited the sainted Phil Fulmer this winter.

Big O will have to get some wins before he gets any special respect out of me...

A whole bunch of Cutcliffe lovers on this board spent all fall talking about what a buffoon Coach O was. I wonder what that makes Fulmer now? By the way, how many top 15 recruiting classes did mini-Fulmer have in his time at Ole Miss?

Orgeron is still a nut case. He may have had one good recruiting year but he's going to have to get some W's before I am convinced that he can coach at all.

:dunno: Not saying it didn't happen, but I really don't remember that.

I don't understand why you guys put so much emphasis on recruiting rankings anyway! You haven't won CRAP by having "the best recruiting class". WHO CARES? This is so objective, and cannot take intangibles into account. A well put together team as a whole will be greater than the sum of its parts... The Sugar Vols are a great example of this. Individually, they weren't great, but they were one hell of a TEAM.

Football is about putting W's on the board, not "Top 15 recruiting classes".

He is a baffoon. Where's that wall around Memphis he was supposed to build?

So he got a few recruits in for one year. It's not like he can coach them, anyway.

I tend to agree. The rankings are so subjective that I'm not sure anyone really knows what the difference is between the #15 class and the #20 class and so on.

Normally we wouldn't have much else to talk about at this time of year... but instead of closely watching and waiting for CPF to rise from the ashes or stumble, I have a novel idea...

Grab a glass of the Kool-Aid and enjoy CBP and his men... with a smathering of Delmonico and the Diamond Vols. :D

Exactly. Maybe you can tell Phlabby Phil that. Everyone has used his recruiting as the last line of defense against criticism. As '98 gets further and further in the rear view mirror, it becomes more and more obvious that we aren't an elite program. We're the SEC equivalent of Texas Tech.

Let's see, Orgeron has multiple National Championship rings as an assistant and Pete Carroll said he was a bigger loss to the USC staff than Volnation favorite Norm Chow. I'll say he can coach a bit. Maybe if mini-Fulmer had recruited any SEC level talent at Ole Miss, the Rebs wouldn't have been as bad this year.

Look at the results the last 4 years. That comparison may offend Texas Tech. As to the "self proclaimed" comment, when you have two degrees from UT and donate the amount of money I have to the UTAD, then you can question my credentials as a Vol fan.

Getting a degree from the school or even donating funds does NOT automatically earn you the title of FAN. Certainly Alumni, and Donor. But not FAN. No FAN would derride the traditions of UT by comparing us to Texas Tech.

Look up fan in the dictionary and get back to me...

Blindly defending a mediocre product doesn't make you a fan, it makes you delusional.

Directing someone to "look up fan in the dictionary?" That's creative. Are you in the third grade?

I just found the comparison to TX Tech offensive and pathetic. Blindly defending a mediocre product isn't what a fan does... but being enthusiastic about their team is. After all this talk about how horrible things are, what will you do when the team proves you wrong next Fall?

Pass me the Kool-Aid OWB, I'm losing my BBall buzz... (no pun intended)

I'm not the least bit worried about Fulmer and his mini-Phil proving me wrong. A fan also cares enough to be objective and voice complaints when the product is subpar. Allow and accept mediocrity and that's what you will get.

Exactly how is the comparison to Texas Tech "offensive and pathetic?" If you don't like the comparison, you should demand a football team that performs in a manner that doesn't lend itself such things.
