I'm not the least bit worried about Fulmer and his mini-Phil proving me wrong. A fan also cares enough to be objective and voice complaints when the product is subpar. Allow and accept mediocrity and that's what you will get.
I'm wondering what sort of things you had to say about this team after the COtton Bowl win over A&M... Fulmer won a bowl game you say? Dang, I thought the man couldn't coach a potato sack.

Its not hard... you may even learn something.
From your advice? I seriously doubt it. Work on properly punctuating "It's" and I might give your academic instructions more weight.

My exact reaction was:"Wow, we just beat a mediocre team in a second rate bowl. I think we should make Fulmer coach for life, or perhaps Emperor of Tennessee. This is one tough hangover. What time do the games of importance start?"

Well at least he didn't put you through all of that this year.

Not only is UT football below TX Tech on your elite radar, but the Cotton Bowl is second rate as well? I guess history and tradition are meaningless to some people.

Next thing I know you're going to tell me that Kansas and Kentucky are no longer elite basketball schools, and couldn't hold George Washington's (the school folks, top 10 this week) jock.

Let's see if the Jayhawks and Wildcats finish with losing records this year, then any comparison to the mess Fulmer has wrought might be credible. When was the last time the Cotton Bowl mattered? The mid '80s? Keep blathering about history and tradition. You sound like an Alabama or Nebraska fan. I guess, by your theory, we should still consider Army, Navy, Harvard, and Yale elite programs.

No, I just don't think one year with a losing record in the toughest conference in the country is a doomsday prophecy like some.

The SEC was not the toughest conference in the country this year. That makes the losing record even more pitiful.

You're probably right... the Big Eleven was... because I know it wasn't the Pac-10, Big XII, Big East... maybe an argument for the ACC... but then again, Miami would be an indicator of that being wrong.

That said, I still stand by the fact that one losing record can't wipe out all the years of winning.

If Peach Bowls make you happy, I guess there's no reason for discussion.

I ejoyed that Cotton Bowl win if that's what you are fishing for. I won't lie I hated those Peach Bowls, hell I hate the damn Georgia Dome, I wish the SEC Champ. were held elsewhere...

It's been fun Hatvol, but I'm tired of this banter... and I have to sack it and go to class tomorrow. A goodnight to you and all of the VN!

Well argued. I don't agree with you, but you state your points well.

Alls well that ends ok... :dunno: I still doubt Eddie gets his fence building co off the ground. He did put together a good looking class, ill give him that much. Dont look for Missy to compete for the West title but if he can keep Brent "da bat" in line they could make the road much tougher for the Auburns and LSUs.

haha that was a good read. I tend to agree with rwemyss. You can't compare the tradition Of Tennessee to that of Texas tech. And even though we had a bad season last year, I really do belive Cutliffe will turn this bad boy around quickly. Look what Pearl did with the players he had. Look what cutliffe mad Peyton and Eli into.... Ok I am done

Good job by Ed in recruiting and I wish him the best in the sec west. Hope brent does good and I wish them the best unless they play tennessee...

Gee, don't see near as many people clowning on Coach O since he outrecruited the sainted Phil Fulmer this winter.
bad year for ut football all around. wow, once in 25 years phil gets outrecruited. do this about 10 straight years then come talk smack.

I certainly understand why folks are upset...it's hard to get excited about a recruiting class that sees one of your best prospects who's been committed supposedly for a long time suddenlty sign with Auburn. It's also tough to see several others who we had legitimate shots at go to LSU, FSU, Auburn etc....

And pointing to CPF and his recruiting skills as a + all this time, and suddenly finish the recruiting season with a gurgle insetad of the bang we are used to, well i can see why people are immediatley angry and look at this as justification for the way they feel about the CPF situation.

But, in the interest of playing :naughty: advocate, well, comparing Ed Orgeron to CPF is, well, useless. I won't argue that THIS YEAR, Ed may have outdone our boy. But please don't start saying that Ed O is a better this or that...he really hasn't done anything yet. it's not like they had a top 5 class or anything....

also, it was only two years ago, right before last season's #1 class in the nation, that we had a #18 class....

let's worry about who we have coming back and whether or not these guys can be coached up to get us back to where we are. I'm not worried about the ones we didn't get. I'm more concerned about the ones we have and currently got.

So, i defnitely understand where you are coming from, if your upset etc....and there is plenty of evidence there to support your reasoning, but try to keep in mind that it's not like we didn't get some talent. It's not like we don't already have some here....let's see what happens in the next season, and the next....that's when we'll be able to go back and say whether or not we did good or bad.

Go Vols. Welcome all the new Vols to Big Orange Nation!

He is a baffoon. Where's that wall around Memphis he was supposed to build?

So he got a few recruits in for one year. It's not like he can coach them, anyway.

That really says it all right there.

Ole Piss fluffers will never not be funny.

Orgeron is an idiot- couldn't find his way out of a paper sack - the only reason he landed this group is because of Schaffer and he only signed with Ole Piss cause no one else would even touch him - great reucruiting does not equal success - this guy has proven to be a mental case and it will show in the fall- Does any one else find it funny that he wants to run the USC offense with a scrambling QB? - doesn't make sense.

One, I'm not an Ole Miss fan. Two, keep thinking everything's OK Fulmerites, a 7-5 season this year will show just how good things are. I'm so looking forward to the Music City Bowl in Trashville.

Just chalk this one up to "most sports fans are idiots" and move on.
Ooh, a rebuke from an intellect such as yours really stings. Just keep spouting that pro-Fulmer line. I'm sure he and mini-Fulmer have such a great plan for reviving this moribund program.

we all understand that you hate CPF and you hate Vol football with the state it is currently in but this coaching staff and this group of kids are who we have to support. now all of your negative talk probably doesn't really hurt anything but it surely isn't helping anything, dont think we are idiots or anything like that or that we even accept mediocrity because we dont but we do support the team that we have on the roster because they make up the Tennessee Volunteer football program we all love!

GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't care less what you or your mother say. Go back to your Cutcliffe shrine and leave the debate to those grounded in reality.
