Where are the Orgeron Haters?

I'm guessing hatvol is a "glass half-empty " kinda guy. I have been to two of those cities (include LA as well) and would live in Nashville any day of the week over those cities. I would rather live where people are friendly and laid back than cities where people avoid eye contact and are hurried and stressed.
There's not a city in the world more friendly than Las Vegas.

you know your arguments aren't with out valid points hat, but comments like this is where i lose it.

this is what always gets to me. these are the types of comments that get folks that critisize CPF labeled as bashers, bammers, trashers etc....

you want to argue whether or not Ed's class is better than phils, fine, no problem with that, and hey, i might even agree with you, but this is where i draw the line....

Amazing that in your continued attempts to trash Fulmer; you prop up a coach like Orgeron. You maximize his limited accomplishments and diminish Fulmer's. No bias there

That's a great way to put it bham. Some people are so intent on trashing Fulmer that they will build up an opposing coach who has accomplished nothing. Am I completely happy with the last five years of UT football? No. Would I take Fulmer over Orgeron any day of the week and twice on Sunday? Without hesitation, I don't even have to think about it. Some people are so intent on trashing a program they claim to love that they've resorted to trashing Nashville. That's pathetic.

I would be trashing Nashville at every opportunity even if we had won the National Championship this year. The two issues are independent of each other.

Jake, would it offend you less if I simply focused on Fulmer's unbearable piousness and left his girth out of the debate? I can certainly do that.

no, it wouldn't. i wish people could just focus on thier opinion of whatever situation was at hand, and leave the personal attacks out of it. I think you have some good points, but you, and there are others, lose me when you start in on the personal ridicule on CPF.

Once that begins, it no longer seems to be a well thought out point of view with information and opinions to back it up, rather it then becomes more of a way to instigate arguements than anything else.

the perception is you don't come off as a well informed person debating an issue, you come off as person that has to resort to name calling just to be heard.

As a slightly different take than Jake: Using a terms like "Phlabby" and "Pious" make for entertaining posts but show a contempt for the man. Given that contempt, it's hard to take your other arguments seriously. If you are trying to make serious arguments, leaving out the personal attacks would make them more persuasive. Otherwise, they sound like rantings from someone determined to see no good in anything Fulmer does.

Jake, it's not simple name calling. Fulmer's personality affects the program, as well as public perception of the University. His smarmy, pious demeanor is barely tolerable when we're winning. I simply think when he fails to deliver, he is open to criticism for his pompous, overbearing manner.

yeah, that sounds better than what i said and is more true to what i wanted to get across.......thanks bham.

OK whatever. but the "perception" as you stated, still holds true in my "perception" of you and your arguements. and bham brings up a good point, and is really more of what i was getting at. Contempt implies not being impartial and incapable of making sound, reasonable, objective arguments.

remember, percepiton is reality. You have yours and i have mine, and so be it. Good luck my friend.

Here's what i posted earlier in this thread after reading some of your posts, just so you know where i'm coming from, from a percepiton standpoint:

"hat, i understand the basis for your rant and all, but c'mon man. You actually sound like your hoping that we go 7-5 or worse, just so you could be right....we all expect better, esp. from our resident recruiting guru CPF. It is and has always been one of the things that has always been at the top of his resume, and to have a season like this, well, it's not horrible, but it's not good compared to our standard. but like i said earlier, last year we had the #1 class, year before that we had the #18 class, and that was after a subpar season as well.... and depending on what you read, i've seen our class ranked as high as 16 or 17 and as low as 25 or so....it's all relative.

be frustrated, be disappointed, be critical, but man don't lose faith, or support for YOUR team.
Go Vols brother!"

#83 is a perfect example of my point (perhaps that's what you intended).

Smarmy and pious are prizms you view Fulmer through. Hard to imagine you could have anything good to say about someone you consider to be these things. I would imagine that many (most?) don't view him as smarmy, and no more pious than most others in leadership positions. Bottomline, your arguments regarding coaching ability don't come off as objective when you are starting from an extreme negative view of the man as a person.

Each of us has our own views - just trying to explain why your constant bashing of Fulmer is not persuasive to me :peace2:

I'll be on the 9:00 P.M. LaGuardia to Mcgee Tyson flight every Friday night before home football games. My support for the program hasn't waned. I simply refuse to overlook the numerous personality flaws of the man in charge.

I am somewhat surpirsed that they did not have an outcry against him this year after going 3-8. The only team that they really beat by a compelling margin was The Citadel. Kentucky and Memphis were bith within a touchdown of beating them and Ole Miss really was not close in any of the games they lost. Precariously close to 1-10. It's aslo kind of funny that OleMiss athletics owns the domain names fireorgeron.com and fireedorgeron.com. I did notice that someone beat them to firecoacho.com, can't be sure it is for Orgereon since the site is not up yet.

Maybe the Ole Miss fans realize how little talent mini-Fulmer left them with.

I'll give you an example from my favorite sport, college basketball. Lute Olson is more pious and smarmy than our current head football coach. However, I have to give the man credit for standing the test of time. He's earned his place in the Basketball Hall of Fame. I simply don't think the man currently running UT football is anything special as a coach. Therefore, I don't feel bad criticizing all of his numerous flaws.

Your response in regards to Coach "O" not winning because he has Coach Cut's players has been disproved by CBP winning with Buzz's players when Buzz could not. Ole Miss is years from not being a doormat. CPF needs to open his eyes, but we are not Ole Miss by a long shot.

Huh? what the....? oh well. your opinion, is all i can say.

but, just for giggles, what if we won the SEC next year? what would you say then? we go 11-1 in reg. season, beat Auburn for the SEC title and are heading to the Sugar bowl, at worst, to play, let's say Miami.

what then?

I think it might have to do with the fact that they can't afford to send him packing. After they paid out Cut and the lack of income at the school - they might be ina financial bind. you are right about a 1-10 season thoug - had the Memphsi QB not gotten injured - they would have killed them. He won't last - he is like the scarecrow from the wizard of OZ - if he only had a brain!!!!

I'd be on a December 28th flight from LaGuardia to Louis Armstrong.

Not a fluke. I'll grant that Fulmer has accomplished enough that him winning the SEC wouldn't necessarily be a fluke. I just seriously doubt I'm going to have to worry about how to react to a championship in '06.
