Where do we go from here, and does this loss effect recruiting?? (Merged)

After last weeks loss to UCLA we picked up three recruits. what are the chances we pick up someone this week and who do you think it might be? :hi:

We have 27 schollys to give out.....and i know that not everyone is guaranteed to make it in...the two names that have been mentioned are Broussard and Harris (he is an ee so im not sure where harris not getting in comes from?)

Take out Broussard (just for possibility)

That leaves us with 7....we have to get OL...seen from some of the recruiting gurus that we could possibly get 3-4 more.... so that puts us at 23-24 schollys not counting Broussard.

With all the recruit names that are mentioned on this board and the guys we have coming in for visits...we really only have 2/3/4 spots left for other recruits.

I have consistently seen numerous names of recruits that we have a legitimate chance with (Luc, Quarles, Riggs, Riley) and now it looks like we are adding to it....Mahoney, Shun Coleman, V. Sanders, J. Reese.

So out of the approximately 3 spots left (excluding OL, which we will get, even if they aren't in rivals 250)...who is it going to be?

I know there was a thread previous to this but that was before cobbs, miller, and willis commited which changed things up...

I think we can backcount from last yrs. recruits because we didnt fulfill the 28 schollys so i think this gives us 30 or 31 schollys this yr maybe wrong but i thought i read that on another thread

Go read the huge news recruiting thread...27 schollys is what we can hand out....

It was said to be 30-31. but 28 is the limit by SEC you can only give out 25 a year. When you look at it that way we only had so many extras and thats 2 extra. So all we can do is 27

To many people get confused with the 28 signing rule and the 25 scholarships that can be given out. Two different animals.

28 players can sign a National Letter on Intent NLI for the incoming class.
25 players can receive a scholarship for the incoming class.
If not all 25 scholarships were given out the year prior the remaining spots can be backcounted with incoming players. Hence why UT can give out 27 scholarships this year.

thanks for clearing that up for me i read the thread when it came out last week hadnt went back to it didnt know how it worked

- 28 players can be signed in 1 year
- UT can backcount 2 more
- 28 + 2 = 30

We can sign 30 players, but we can only give out 27 scholly's. I really don't see why this is so hard to understand...

We will sign 30...

One of the reasons I started this thread....

How can we possibly take Cam Newton or another wr with possibly only 3 spots left?

I think the recruiting front will be calm for the next few months to come (excluding OL).

Wish list is Luc, Quarles, and Riggs. Think we get only 1 of the 3 though.

Are you just absolutely sure that 3 players won't make it in to school next fall? Not saying we will or won't sign 30...only the coaches can give that info...but if only Broussard doesn't make it in...who are we grey-shirting?

Why does this confusion continue? It's been explained by myself and Lord Vader correctly numerous times. Just as Vader describes it here is the situation. We can sign up to 30 since we can backcount 2. People keep saying, well only 27 can enroll. Of course that's true, but just like we may not sign 30 players, we may not sign 27 either. My guess is that we sign around 28 which if 2 or 3 miss the grades, will still leave some room to backcount next year.

But as I've repeatedly said, if the coaches see 30 guys that they think can play that want to commit here, we will take them all. Chances are you'll have 2 or 3 non-qualifiers or some other reason they don't enroll this fall and the numbers will work out. We signed 32 in 2007 and that worked out just fine.

The coaches have Luc WAY up the board.

Say we get all three (2 are discussed as silents right now).

After the Auburn game we get Dyer if we push hard and get him and Mosley.

So are we close to closing the class with just another OL?

I think no, because I think we can at that point keep recruiting and keep pushing and get some decommits, (Pair, Broussard) and then get Quarles and 2 more instead of 1 more OL which I think comes from the group of Morgan Moses, John Cullen, TJ Leifheit, James Stone and Damien Robinson.

Kelcy Quarles
Jeff Luc
Michael Dyer
Dakota Mosley
Morgan Moses
John Cullen

I would still like Shirley, but if we finished with this group I would be ecstatic!

So do you guys think we finish recruiting without decommits? I say no way.

Should just sticky a thread like this because someone makes a new one at least once a week.

If that class was our end result. It would be one of the greatest classes of the last couple years. Period. That is a stud class and fills all our needs.
