Where is Alexa headed? [Alexa Middleton leaving team]

hey Smallvol1, with Wifey gone, I've taken a beautiful woman out 2 nights in a row to dinner and sunset walks on the gulf coast. :)

have found her role fulfilling? She had a limited role on a team that underachieved greatly and lost 13 games, playing for a coach who, on her best days, is mediocre, and she doesn't have too many best days. What is fulfilling about that?
Obviously you never got out of your recliner enough to learn about the joy and fulfilment of team sports. Best of luck to you Ms Middleton

I am bit surprised that Alexa would transfer at this point in her college career. She has had a steady improvement curve over her first three years and always gave a 100% effort when she was on the court. So, I was a fan (though cognizant of her limitations).

But, if a player wants to transfer, it is best that she does transfer particularly when it is a mindset issue. In A.M’s case, I would have wanted to see more competitive fire. That is, “okay, Tea is back in the rotation; Diamond is staying and I am a senior. So, I am going to work on my game so that I am just too good and valuable to not get playing time; those hot shot freshmen will have to wait their turn.”

Now, it may be true that Alexa would not be able to keep them off the court but, if a player does not believe she can compete, then it becomes a certainty that she won’t compete. Instead, it seems like her attitude was more of, "well, I am not going to be able to match up against these new recruits, so I will go where I can play more.” Truthfully, it probably is the realistic assessment but Alexa has enough skill and talent that it is not a certainty that she could not have won a spot. But believing that you can’t, probably tells us something about the mindset of some players that led to such erratic performances.

Agreed but if you read between the lines it says something really good about Tia's recovery and the recruits talent from someone who really knows first hand!

Agree with part shown above. The rest presumes AM left because she feared competition or lack of playing time. This is directly against what she said. Did she lie? Not. Besides, she was such an ALL IN team player that she would have sat the bench if that was what was needed.

My gut says she would've had more time at the 2 guard this season where she'd have thrived. AM left because of something chemistry-wise that hasn't been made public yet. JMO.

"I had some incredible experiences here, competing on a big stage, playing in some highly competitive games and even traveling to Italy. This was a personal decision, and I just felt I needed to go somewhere to reach the goals I have set."

What would these goals have been and what she need to accomplish them? I think it is a fair assumption that being a starter and getting major minutes in her last collegiate season would be a key consideration. Going on her quote, I would say that is a much smaller presumption than your conjecture about "chemistry problems.." To your question, she did not mention chemistry, are you implying she lied?

News Sentinel interview -

Middleton wanted to make it clear that the possibility of reduced playing time did not affect her decision.
“That recruiting class had nothing to do with why I left,” Middleton said. “I feel confident in my abilities. People are going to think that they know everything. People always have their opinions. That had nothing to do with my decision.”

if there is some bad chemistry going on, Holly needs to address it YESTERDAY. That has been a problem in the past, and ignoring it (or seeming to) does NOT fix it.

AM hasn't been a starter for 3 years, and I guarantee her minutes and the position would've improved this season. But that's based on my knowledge of the team, and knowledge varies.

"Pursuing my goals..." is a PC way to move on without reflecting poorly on the program or herself. You're just reading into it what you think, and you're not alone in that thinking. But I don't think you're right.

Either way, she's gone. I will miss her, and I hope any issues get repaired before next season.

I had not seen that interview and that statement does put things in a different light.

Wants to transfer. ?

ALexa is a fine young lady, who would have tutored and helped the Freshman girls to excel and become great so this team could reach it's heights again. She would not have stood in the way of their learning or advancement because their success would have been Alexa's success. .

Agree with your gut and am curious as to your theory

Are you saying that Middleton knows first-hand how talented the freshmen are? I very much doubt that she does--how could she. We've lost the best three-point shooter on the team, and I guarantee you this will be a problem for us. One of our team weaknesses--of course Warlick is oblivious to it--is that we do not make enough three-point shots. So instead of getting better at taking/making threes, we will regress. Neither Cooper nor any of the freshmen are going to shoot 40 percent from the three-point line.

Doubt it ... maybe the most EXPERIECED THREE POINT SHOOTER... but I am sure just hitting s few threes will open up the lanes. Rennia and evina are both capable three point shooters!
