My GUESS...Recruiting would be less exciting with Gundy and Strong...Strong would have brought Clint Hurtt with him (now suspended) and Gundy doesnt appear to have an SEC recruiting philosophy.

As for coaching x's and o's...I dont know, but the players seem to enjoy this staff.

We would be approximately at the same place given the players we now have. Coach Jones may or may not be able to bring the Vols back to being competitive, we won't truly know until 2015-2016. We hope to see subtle signs this year, but don't expect over 5-6 wins max, possibly less.

I think Strong or Gundy would have finished better with the 2013 class, but Jones is off to a great start in 2014. So overall, it's hard to say.

Dunno where/what we would be if Strong were the coach, but I'm sure we would all be 40 and men if Gundy was the head coach!!!!

I see no reason we can't win 7, maybe 8

Better question, what if Ham Bone would have hired Sumlin Or Kelly when he had the chance?

Very happy with this hire. I loathe the off season.

I know said you think we'd have finished off the 2013 class better with Strong or Gundy. We'll never know. However, Butch and Strong were pretty close/equivalent with 2012 class iirc, both in the 50s I think.

So far this year...

Strong #43
Gundy #38

Just sayin'

Sumlin yes

Kelly showed he aint worth a sh&t in that NC game..

Yeah, can't coach at all. Those first 12 games don't count. Come on man, 12-0 is hard as hell... he has to be a good coach to get his team there. Just got whipped by a better physically superior team in the NC game. Lombardi couldn't have won that game.

Lol you can't compare them any more like that.

That would be like comparing Florida to South Florida In recruiting.

Just sayin...

Just saying, sounds like we're complaining about diamond shoes being too tight. At least he made it there.

If Kelly played in the SEC, he would of went 7-5 at best.

Ehhh... Maybe 8-4, if he is really lucky

I lol when I read statements like"don't know if he can coach on field or not". Are you kidding? This man knows how to excite the fan base, how to organize practices in military fashion. You really think he goes dumb on game day? I assure you not. We are rising from the ashes folks, starting this fall.

On VN, it would be no different...."Gundy/Strong just gets it" repeated over and over, which is understandable because anything over the last regime is an upgrade.

He almost lost too Pitt?

And would of lost to Saban 60-7, if Saban didnt call his dogs off.
