Gundy would have been an absolute disaster. He would have come in with a huge ego because of his moderate success at Oklahoma State and wouldn't have put in the work required to win in the SEC. I think Bret Bielema is a very comparable hire at Arky. Big ego, has already been successful, and doesn't have the drive or passion to prove himself on the biggest stage in college football.
Strong is an interesting hypothetical. I wanted him bad at the time. Yes, Strong beat Florida in the Sugar Bowl, but I think that CBJ was on the verge of getting Cincy back to the Brian Kelly era of success.
I think they are very similar coaches, but I give the edge to CBJ based on work ethic and recruiting ability.
