Where would we be...

Yes it would.....

Georgia, Florida, SC, ATM, LSU, would beat ND by 30 points.

Same with Florida. They had much more trouble with Bowling Green and Jacksonville State than Bama did with ND.

You're saying any SEC team in the title game would be pretty much equal, when just last year you saw Bama destroy another SEC team in the title game because of their coaching advantage.

Bama was up 28-0 by halftime. Georgia didn't even do that to Georgia Southern or Florida Atlantic.

And Ga also came 5 yards away from beating Bama and went 11-1 in The SEC.
Not a make believe conference like ND is in.

Did I mention Kelly lost as bad to Bama as Dooley's 5-7 team?

You're right, the month to prepare was completely meaningless. Those two Bama-LSU games from the previous season were pretty much exactly the same.

Saban is better than Kelly. Richt is not. Give Kelly a month to prepare vs. GA and he will win.

On VN, it would be no different...."Gundy/Strong just gets it" repeated over and over, which is understandable because anything over the last regime is an upgrade.

This is probably spot on, but in my personal opinion, and when we first hired Butch, NO WAY I ever imagined myself saying this, but thank goodness Butch is our coach!! Forget all the "he gets it stuff" but the things he is doing with recruiting and bringing former players home and letting them be as invlolved as they want in the program, I'm all in!! I wasnt concerned about Butches coaching ability but his recruiting ability in the SEC. He has proved me wrong big time. Not booking it, JMO but if we win at least 8 games and win a couple that we arent supposed to, we finish with a top 3 class.

Lol you can't compare them any more like that.

That would be like comparing Florida to South Florida In recruiting.

Just sayin...

No lol. Context. Dude randomly says he thinks Gundy and Strong would've both finished off our 2013 class better than Butch. Based on what? Only empirical data we have is our beloved recruiting ranking systems, so we can and do make comparisons. It's constantly done chief.

Also, Louisville just beat the crap out of Florida so why wouldn't that give Strong a big bump in recruiting. Gundy has had his teams in the Top 10-20 BCS rankings pretty consistently. Why doesn't his recruiting rankings not blow up? Just sayin.

You just proved you don't have a lick of sense with that statement.

What's Kelly ever won?

72-25 as a head coach with 3 big east titles and a NC?

Why don't you back up your statement.

Instead of making a pu$$y comment, with nothing to back it up.

Coker won it with Butch Davis coached players. When Coker had his guys in, he lost games. You like to look at only records. In college football, records are constantly argued. Larry Coker ran Miami into the ground towards the end.

Kelly won the big east 2 or 3 times also.... I'd take Butch Jones over Coker.

Phillip Fulmer
Nick Saban
Mark Richt
Les Miles
Kevin Sumlin
Steve Spurrior
Muschamp
Urban Meyer
Hugh Freeze
Chip Kelly
Jim mora
Chris Peterson
Gary Patterson
Bill O brien
Mack Brown
Jimbo Fisher
Art Briles
Bret Bielema
Bo Pelini

first of all, i was referring to currently employed college head coaches across the country. not nfl head coaches, not assistants, etc.

so, that elimates fulmer and chip kelly.

how jimbo fisher makes your list is beyond me. if there is a head coach in america who has it easier than fisher, i'd like to hear who it is. he finally won his first acc championship.

i'm not going to go through the rest of these although i find some of them funny.

but, what i find telling, is that you were careful not to list bob stoops or david shaw. the reason for that is obvious.

now, notre dame got throttled by alabama. but, that's not how everything is judged or should be. brian kelly doesn't have a national championship roster. not close. but, he got his team into a national title game. he did it beating the pac-10 champion and the big-12 co-champion along the way.

if you want to base everything on a game played against a vastly superior opponent with a month to prepare....fine.

what i know is he has won everywhere he has been. he took 3 years to build a conference champion at central michigan. 3 years to build a conference champion at cincinnati. 3 years to play for a national title at notre dame.

he can flat out coach. if you don't agree, we will just have to agree to disagree.

this whole thing started when someone claimed kelly wasn't worth a ****.

i don't think kelly is god's gift, but it would be hard not to consider him a big success and one of the better coaches in the game

He almost lost too Pitt?

And would of lost to Saban 60-7, if Saban didnt call his dogs off.

But he didn't lose to Pitt. We almost lost to Syracuse and Arkansas in '98....going undefeated is difficult and that ain't happening in major college football without a good coach. Did Alabama whup that azz? Hell yeah, but I they beat everybody else in front of them. I'm not a ND guy by any freaking stretch, but give them their due.... They were 12-1 and one azz whuppin away from 13-0 record and a NC.
