Which Freshman QB is better?

Wes Rucker, who said Tyler Bray would be round 1 pick, says Worley is better than all 3 qb's. Wes Rucker knows football, because Wes Rucker is a sports writer.

Well I guess Wes needs to find another job, because if Worley was the best option for us then there would be no need for an open QB battle at this point in the season. Worley hasn't done anything significant at the QB position. He has a weak arm, he's inaccurate, and he's too slow to run this offense efficiently.

This is ridiculous. The MODs should remove this thread from the board. No one who would reply can know anything about how either have looked in practice.

Doug Matthews said yesterday that one freshman throws to the defense more than the offense and the other has problems with the snap. Take that for what it's worth, and don't shoot the messenger.

I genuinely hate to utilize sarcasm against fellow Vol fans, in part because its use has been so incessant over the last 48 hours, but it sometimes helps to actually READ previous comments in the thread, such as those cited in post no. 19.

In any event, here's Butch's opinion: "Whatever quarterback has the best week of practice is going to be the starter for Tennessee when we play Florida. If that means a freshman quarterback, that means a freshman quarterback. We’ll have more quarterback run in to our package this week. We just need to find ways to generate big explosive plays and if that’s Josh Dobbs running the read option or Riley Ferguson, that’s what we’ll do to create big plays. That’s going to be our focus and preparation this week” (Florida Week Depth Chart: Door Open for Freshmen QBs | VolNation Blog).

Based on those statements, it sounds like the quarterback competition is officially wide open again. Unequivocal reference to integrating the quarterback as more of a running threat, hopefully, will appease the masses.

Coach Speak.

From what Ive heard, Worley is great in practice. When it comes to gametime is another story.

Also, I think it's very unlikely that Jones starts a true freshman on the road in the Swamp in their first game.

Keep the freshmen on the bench and play Peterman. If he falters put Worley back in with no pressure to perform. If we play freshmen then I would have Ferguson throwing and Dobbs running.

Worley has had a few but I don't think Peterman has had any yet. Peterman did run for over 300 yards his senior year of high school.

Sounds like this week's play calling will be much different then. Must not have had much confidence in Worley's or Peterman's running abilities. Who would've ever suspected that????

CBJ and staff have to know that one of these guys has the swag and is more vocal than the others. Start that guy and let's see what happens. If none of them has these qualities then we better be looking hard for someone else for 2014.

Did you not pick up on my sarcasm? I dont agree with Rucker, he always talks about how much he knows football.

With Jones running the read option, I sure hope he is still trying to recruit another QB, not that one of the freshman can't get it done, just that we may indeed need an elusive playmaker at QB

I'm calling BS on anybody that answers as if they know in either direction.

100% correct. Really doesn't matter how they played in camp either. Everybody responds different under real game pressure. Nobody will know until their number is called.

Johnny Manziel didn't look good in practice either his freshman year. Wasn't even guaranteed the job as RS freshman. My point is, you never know how these guys will do in a game. There are some guys that just turn it up a notch in game action.

I don't care which one is better. My only hope is one of them is better than Worley. I believe our offense will get a lot better with a quarterback and not just a warm body behind center.
