Who are the richest NIL programs?

NIL has screwed up college football. They should have offered the kids 10k in cash along with scholarship. No one gets more or less. Hell all they really wanted in the beginning was damn spending money.
That wouldn't have prevented where we are now. Everyone was making money off the football/basketball players. Not just off the games being played and tv rights, but you use to be able to buy a jersey on the NCAA website with a player name on the back. The player didn't get anything for that. I think the NCAA still had player jerseys for sale on the NCAA website for a little while after the Obannon lawsuit was filed. Someone on tv or radio had to bring that up as an example on how wrong the NCAA was and then the jerseys came off the website not long after because the NCAA realized how tone deaf they were. And then of course there were the multitude of football and basketball video games. Not paying players isn't the same as the NCAA not only prohibiting athletes from making money using their NIL but profiting off the player NIL also. The player didn't have a right to their NIL, but everyone else had a right to that player's NIL?

The reality is recruiting is a money game. The highest bidder will get the kids.
I’m wondering where TN stacks among these NIL deals?
I would say Texas has the most. Plus i think Bama has been doing the NIL long before it was legal. Kirby learned from Saban. Think about it, if your in top 4 you get two games if you win. At around 18 to 20 Million a game. Bama and Georgia have been racking up for a few years now.

The kid wanted to play for Deion.
All Colorado had to do was get in the ballpark of our offer.
Happens all the time. Players choose where they want to go. If that team's NIL is competitive that is where they will go.
There is more to the equation than the money in most cases. Players and families use a lot of emotion in their choices as well.

So we can’t compete with Colorado when it comes to money. Got it.

We can compete with anyone obviously as the articles posted earlier in the thread showed. But we don't have unlimited money and you have to put a price tag on each player individually.

The Dodgers and Yankees have the budgets to sign anyone they want. But do they? Of course they don't. No one can operate a business that way.

Guess you just won’t see what’s right in front of you. Tons of examples. Believe what you will. Your statements resemble the usual Al ones on here when we miss out in a big time recruit. No one believes like me? Cool story. Prove it then.

Right. So now we just believe what 18 year olds say? Funny. I remember when Nolen committed to TAMU and he said it wasn’t about the money. Most on here laughed and said yeah right. So Nolen was clearly lying but Seaton isn’t. Sure thing.

I am singling out TN because I donate to Spyre and I am tired of seeing TN placing second for big time recruits ti inferior programs.
Literally landed two 5 star recruits already this class. But sure, we can't land any elite recruits.

You need to go sit for awhile. You're like watching a toddler pitch a fit when he loses a board game.

Money isn't everything - if it was Texas A&M would be one of the four teams, but they aren't.

There is no university that can fund 5* and backup 5* at every position. You can't predict when a player will get hurt. You can't predict whether egos will come into play preventing the team on the field from coming together as a team. Every player ends up being in it for just them, their future, their success. If they don't perform well, they will not see the potential that endorsements may bring to the table, neither will the company that has chosen to endorse them.

For NIL and these collectives, IMO, it is all about being able to connect a player with companies effectively, not just handing out bags of money. A collective that is good at working both sides is the one that will succeed. It is not just throw a bunch of money at something and see if it sticks approach. it is effectively using what you have to connect player with endorser.

I think many incorrectly equate the amount of dollars in the pool to effectiveness of these collectives.

It sure feels like it is leaning that way. We have struggled closing in high school recruiting. If we swing and miss on some of these big time portal guys.... 😬 yikes!!

Latest I heard was we might be missing on Juice Wells because of money...how???
Did you ever stop and ask if they are worth the money? Particularly Juice Wells. A lot has been posted recently shining him in a not so pleasant light.

Keep in mind there is also a risk here - 5* athlete connected to company XYZ, then does something very illegal - that ends up reflecting on company XYZ. And that company decides it is not worth it to them.

By BoT's logic, our entire class should consist of every player in the 247 top 25 or else it's failure by our NIL collective.

he was hurt this year but he has been farrrr more productive in his career than anybody we have...
Check some the recent news about about him. Not saying he isn't talented, but there is a limit to what you should be willing to put up with

This is college football. Completely different sports. It tells me that Colorado paid more than we did. This is a hat college football is now. I mean Deion got Travis Hunter (#1 overall) to commit to Jackson State. Come on man. Hunter could have went anywhere but he chooses Jackson State?
But…. Did they win a championship? Maybe different sports but same results. The highest paid payrolls don’t always win.

I’m starting to think you might be right.😞

There were a lot of eggs in that basket. One has to have some sanity in negotiating with High School Players. Plus, we have a couple of really good OTs already committed. Would loved to have gotten him, but there are a lot of other big fish in the pond. I don't want us to end up being another TA&M..
Most Freshman Linemen just cant play bigtime P5 FB right off the bat. They can usually block head to head as good as experienced but have a hard time with the stunts and the center call adjustments and all, things they didn't see in HS. This causes them to think too much and play on their heels and get beat a lot. Cant remember the name think it was Richmond or something like that a 5 Star lock but never lived up to the hype and the kid whose twin brother dads that played here and NFL was supposed to be dominant, he turned out to be a good O line man but nothing like the hype. O Line is hard to rate this early as is Tight End.

This is true but a lot will get there and have buyers remorse and there will be a mass exodus Deion is a used Car salesman that knows what athletes especially the Black athlete wants to hear. Deion thinks or has convinced himself they are going to win the Big 12 next year because Oklahoma & Texas are leaving. He's telling recruits they will be top 12 and in playoffs next year. I just think that University is going to be a revolving door and may ruin a few athletes future. Its like slowing down passing a car wreck.

Are some of you really fearing——————————Colorado?
Last time I looked we have twice as many 4 star commits as they do. We both have one 5 star commit.

NIL collectives are like a secret cult and their operations are cloak and daggers. Inquiring minds would like to know which ones spend the most and how they interact with the school but just because we are curious doesn’t give us a right to that information. These websites might have a good idea what a few of these players are getting but they are just making a guess as to which collectives are on top.

We just got outbid for the #1 OL by Colorado. What does that tell you?
Good point. However, this kid revealed himself to be a toxic racist so I'm glad the coaches passed on him. I would also add Coach Deon Sanders to the category of race baiter if he uses his skin color to recruit Black players, so I wish nothing but pain and failure for him. Let's get the #2 or #3 OL and coach em up.

I agree with you. Sanders is out of his depth. The last time I saw a coach put his son as QB was in elementary school. It wouldn't surprise me if Sanders is buying OL protection for his kid to improve his chances of getting in the NFL like his old man. Huge conflict of interest.

Doesn't tell which team's NIL support is greatest in terms of $$$ but CU, USC and LSU each have 2 of the highest paid players.

Which bring up the $8 M Nico deal. I've seen that number many times but never from an authorative source .
The original source was the lawyer who wrote the contract, Mike Caspino, (so yes they're paid to lie) but let's assume he didn't. He was effectively announcing how great an agent he is, and no one has officially named the player. You have to guess that it's Nico. He got a $350,000 signing bonus also as a High School Junior. Monthly payments that increase over time.

Decent article here on the content of the contract

This article goes so far as to say it's widely believed to be Nico. He says here that he was representing 100 kids at the time, and it was basically the "good ones", five stars.

I was interested in looking for a press release directly from Caspino, but who cares really. There must have been one.

Anyway it's more or less the farthest thing imaginable from a rumor. It's a first person claim of greatness with as much publicity from the individual as possible.

It is my understanding that these “valuations” ARE NOT based on the actual deals players are making. These “valuations” are based mostly on the number of social media followers the player has. At least that is what I read at ON3 a few months ago.).

An average player with a high social media following will have a higher “valuation” than a very good player with a low social media following. (But I am sure the collectives will be spending their money on the higher rated player). For the most part it is hush hush how much players are actually receiving so some sites come up with formulas to come up with a number and then get clicks and interest in their websites.
