Who covers Wall when we play the kitty-kats?

Man, calm down, it's December. If there's one thing to criticize about message boards, it's that people are too day to day. The Vols look sloppy and uninterested for a couple of games, they will struggle; they beat UNCA by 75, they will go to the Final Four. It's a marathon, not a sprint and what happened the last week coupld change quickly.

What if Kentucky lays an egg Saturday in Indiana? Will they still "probably" get to the Final Four? Who knows. We still need a longer time frame and I still don't see a reason to crown Kentucky in the SEC yet, nor crap my pants at the thought of them. I've seen Tennessee beat better teams than the one I saw last night in MSG. I've also seen us lose to teams like this Kentucky team.

Regardless, Kentucky, yes, is a good team, but not a Final Four quality team as of now. Wall is a player, but I could've told you that two years ago. Cousins could be on the same level, or implode at any moment. I'm just curious to see how they deal with the pressure and top level teams.

As I said, though, it's December and a lot, A LOT will change before March.

I am as calm as one could be. I hope I am wrong, I hope they fold like a cheap suit and we beat them down both times, I would greatly enjoy seeing them in the NIT

Have you watched them at all? Wall is the best player in the country. Patterson and Cousins are really good post players and they are really deep.

Playing UConn in MSG is like a road game.

If we beat both UNC and UConn you would be in here telling anyone who would listen how great we are.

Despite which wins ppl here choose to celebrate, the fact of the matter is that UCONN and UNC are good wins, not great wins, but good, solid wins. If you look at how the top 10 or so teams in that nation play, and then you take at how UCONN has played up to this point in the season, you would see that UCONN is not a top 15 team, some nights they don't even look like a top 25 team. Same goes for UNC.

well... only for the well coached teams... our guys will likely have that glazed over look in their eyes again come march... promptly chucking the ball out of bounds in key possessions or jacking up wild 3's. who knows... tyler might even be starting at the point by then,

Yea we will shoot more 3s than 2s or shoot a 3 with 5 seconds left when down by 1 point and be sent packing by the sweet 16 as usual.

BS. People are only "spinmasters" here if they defend Pearl. I've never even said UT is a Final Four team or anything of the sort and I am much more level headed than the always negative, critical crew.

As far as UConn and UNC, like I said, they are good names, but are top 15-20 teams this year, not top 5. I doubt either makes it past the Sweet 16, if they get that far.

So, yes, they are good teams, but not really good teams. Purdue is better than either of them. Kentucky has played a couple of good teams, but not any really good teams. Plus, I haven't seen them on the road yet.

Considering this, I'm not going to get my panties in a wad, yet, nor am I going to say they are a Final Four team, "at worst", which is just ridiculous. I'll withhold judgment.

I never said any team was a lock for the Final Four.

However, I find it hard to believe if UT had beaten UNC and UCONN that you and others on this board would have not downplayed such wins.

wins over UNC and UCONN are very good quality wins.

not to mention that UK basically blew out UNC.

LOL... how often does a #4 ranked team get to play other teams in the top 5? and since when do we say they aren't tested until they play a higher ranked team? LOLOLOL. playing UCONN at MSG is a very good test... and again.... a very good quality win.

It was a good win. Have you seen UNC and UCONN play this year at all? besides the games against UK?

Man, I've never seen a two point win discribed as "basically a blow out." Hopefully, we will "blow Ky out" and win by two.

I'm not dowmplaying the wins, only that you will go to the Final Four because of the win. Like I said, I would argue it's a good win for UT, but not say we are going deep in the tourney because of it.

Even if Worldwide We$ brings him Selby, Selby is not close to Walls level. Besides, we will have better point guards than anyone outside of CJ than we have seen in a long time next year, and the year after with Ware we will have the most talented kid we have had running the PG spot since I have been alive.

You are quite correct that Wall is a once-in-a-decade type of player. It will be difficult to find someone of his calibre every year. The big question is....can Calipari reload year-in and year-out?

I never said that UT or UK either one would be in the tourney.

Still not following your beef.

The question may best be answered by how well CJC adjusts to a higher level of play in the SEC. Let's face it. They aren't going to win a national title every year. How many SEC games do you think UK will lose this year? I don't think they will lose more than 3 games in the SEC.

If he is unable to adjust, the SEC losses may pile up faster than one would predict and recruits will start signing with major schools from other conferences.

The SEC isn't exactly a powerhouse. It's very possible that the SEC only gets 4 bids to the 'AAs this year.

Yeah but first things first. UK has to win the SEC season in and season out to keep getting 5 star recruits. They were able to evade their shortfalls this recruiting year because of CJC track record.

Fail.

You answered your own statement with the last sentence. Kids come to play for Cal because he puts people in the league and plays an exciting offense. Stamp a UK logo on him and he's golden. A proven coach at a school with a storied tradition.

Did I? Coaching at UK is a little different than at UM. You think 5 star recruits (recruits with an s) will keep coming to UK if they finish 3rd in the SEC?

Hey, if CJC does have a 3 or 4 year final four streak, he will be in the NBA so it won't matter.

Who wants to volunteer to post UK's SEC standings for the last 20 years? And then look at their recruiting rankings. Where's HWF when you need him?

The last 5 years alone will prove my point. They've only had 5 or so 5 star recruits the last 5 years.

The last five years they have not had Cal on the bench.

They might not of had a lot of 5 star recruits but their program was about as low as it has gotten and they still pulled 5 stars and a bunch of high 4 stars.

They pulled, on average, one 5-star every year and a bunch of 4 stars. Do you not know how competitive ncaa basketball recruiting is? Half of the SEC teams manage to get several 4 to 5 stars every year.
