Who covers Wall when we play the kitty-kats?

Yeah, because that worked so great for him the last time. Calipari will not leave UK for an NBA job making less money.

I'll say it now, JCJ leaves UK in 2011. What do you do then?

That's if CBP has ANYTHING to say about it. You better hope he doesn't

yeah the nba doesn't call coaches who make the ncaa finalls 3 years in a row

Over your time here you have managed to prove one thing. A world exists outside of that skull of yours, and you obviously pay no attention to it whatsoever.

I'm not sure why I took you off the ignore list.

Every now and then it's good to take them off for a bit.

Gives a good laugh at their expense.

You wouldn't have known that we have William Wallace reincarnated to grace us here at VN.

Who wants to volunteer to post UK's SEC standings for the last 20 years? And then look at their recruiting rankings. Where's HWF when you need him?

The last 5 years alone will prove my point. They've only had 5 or so 5 star recruits the last 5 years.

#1 seed and Elite-8 finish in 2003: recruiting class = 4 non-top-100 prospects for UK

2nd round loss in 2004: recruiting class = #1 in the country

#2 seed and Elite-8 finish in 2005: recruiting class = Jared Carter, Rekalin Sims and Adam Williams.

NIT appearance in 2009: recruiting class = top-5 all time.

Your logic or knowledge (or both) are severely flawed...

I'm not sure anyone can cover him. Probably sit back in a zone. But I'm not sure our zone would keep him from penetrating either. It's a lose-lose situation.

From the 3 games I have seen, Wall, Cuz, Dobson and Bledsoe are quick to get into foul trouble. An agreessive offense would be a good approach. Oops that means Hopson won't be playing that much unless he becomes more willing to creat his own shot, instead of waiting for Tyler pass it to him.

I honestly have no idea and I've though a good bit about it, none of our guards can hang with him...maybe a Box and 1 to MAYBE slow Wall down? But then that leave a good amount of the floor open for Bledsoe, etc...It's going to be a bad situation

Playing a box and one is still assuming that ONE man can cover wall, which has already been proven time and time again to be false.

I was thinking more of having one man covering him on the perimeter and try to push him inside to the box...I'm really reaching because I have no idea what else to do against him.

Yeah, I hear ya. I'm not saying I have the answer either.

I believe the best defense he could face is the Boeheim 2/3 zone. Not just any zone would work, but a team that is trained in the concept of a zone defense from day one could possibly contain him, at least in the half court game. The Syracuse zone is usually formidable.

If you take a team that plays primarily man to man, or a team who doesn't do anything well, and try to just "switch" to a zone to stop him, your going to lose that battle.

Boeheim's zone is flat out amazing when the players execute it like they should. I would like to see a 'Cuse-Kentucky matchup now

Hopefully they cover him better than Yates for MTSU was covered in the first half last night. I thought he was going to go Dionte Christmas on the Vols.

The word trained in your post is the key.

With some of the basketball IQ's in Knoxville right now, it may look like a Chinese Fire Drill.

here's something i wish CBP would do... cuz it would fit so well into what "appears" to be his preferred style of play. let me warn you... what you are about to read requires teaching and ... uh.... some... good ol fashion coaching.... *GASP*!

CBP needs to incorporate multiple halfcourt D's into his pressure game. in the same way the full court press changes up from a man on the ball out of bounds to a man denying the pass inbounds (back to the passer).

if executed properly, D's like 1-3-1 trap, run and jump or match up zone, could really get teams out of rhythm if you keep switching D's after they adjust to the previous.

an approach like this might work well against Wall and the Kats. maybe cause a bit of confusion... maybe make them think a little more than they are used to on the court... which could slow them (Wall) down just enough to give us an advantage.

all this said... i seriously doubt CBP has the desire to coach as much as would be needed to execute those D's. but the idea of it would fit well into create chaos, turnovers, and over all mayhem for opposing Off's.

I agree and don't see Pearl going into that much detail. We would be very strong and it doesn't seem like it would be as difficult to teach to a vetern squad compared to the team we put on the floor next year. I think Pearl gets up for Cal though so it should be fun. In no way do I see UK blowing us out but the Kansas game is a perfect tool to measure from.

I would love to see UT put together a complete game and walk away with a win in that game.
