But please, try and convince me why some exhibition game played months after the end of the season with some hooplah around it ought to carry more weight than one played in the middle of the season.

the BCS and AP both say it does. the AP, who has nothing to do with the BCS, has even named bama #1. if there were post season playoffs and bama would have beat lsu would you then say that the playoffs didnt matter? like i said in another post, i was against bama being in the game even though i thought they were the second best team in the country, but if this was a playoff game and this same outcome tonight had happened, there wouldnt be anything else to say for it. are the broncos better than the steelers? no but they won yesterday and alabama won the BCSNG making them the champs

It's not "the one that mattered." Last I checked, both had 15 minute quarters and were played on fields that were 120 by 53.3 yards.

it was the one labeled the National Championship game, the one "for all the marbles". the one that wins this is labeled National Champions

The playoffs question is speculative.

As for the AP, that's fine if they picked Bama, I understand. That's the way polls work, they have to pick one team over the other at the end of the day. But since both teams beat one another one time each, then that means every single voter had to make their pick based entirely off subjective, qualitative points which makes it weak as ****.

So because the title of the game, it was physically different?

Hmm, sorry don't buy it. Bama is still .500 against LSU this season.

How many teams are in the playoffs? Are they picked based on polls or conference titles? Or maybe a mixture of both? How deep in the playoffs would this be? Would Alabama then go on and play Oklahoma State after they hypothetically beat LSU?

... See how ridiculous it gets? There is an entirely different dynamic with a playoff scenario.

its the same game, everything is the same except the title of it, the title says its the one that matters, not me, not you. the BCS (which we all agree sucks) says that this is the only game of the season that matters.

i dont disagree with that at all, but under the system we have, the game tonight was THE GAME, lsu didnt even show up, alabama won. i was all for not even playing tonights game and giving it to lsu and making bama play osu for the #2 spot, tonight changed my mind on that.

Well, I choose not to buy into it because it's a total crock and we all know it. Why I post BCSMNCG -- emphasis on mythical.

The team that lost 21-0 might as well be, because they are .500 against the BCS mythical national champs this season.

Undefeated teams not getting a shot in the end of the season BCS exhibition game is another matter entirely.

LSU=SEC champion
Bama=National Champion

Something don't make sense, but that's the system we have!

Score board. They played twice and split and thats the end of it. Wouldn't matter if bama won 100-0, they still lost at home to lsu.

For someone with a "Moderator" emblem you are awfully antsy tonight. At the end of the day it was the best team in the nation that won. Get over yourself. If you have the gall to say that the the losing team tonight wouldn't have beaten Boise, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Clemson, Virginia Tech, TCU, Wisconsin, or Oregon by two touchdowns you are an idiot and don't deserve "moderator" status on college football message board. Just saying bro.

Somebody is butthurt.

Do you feel the 98 game was mythical?

Obviously tomorrow and forever Alabama will be the AP and BCS National Champions.

Unanimous National Champions will be the descriptive.

Excuse me for being a little bit irked after watching Bama win their 2nd BCS title in three years. I would think it would grind the gears of any UT fan.

And I don't know where you got the part about LSU beating Boise, Okie Lite, etc. Link pls.

I would ask you how you would feel after watching UT, Bama or Auburn win a 2nd title in three years but I'm not sure which. :crazy:

ESPN is about to replay it if you have any doubts. Maybe you should watch the game since you have the tag of "moderator" on a college sports forum.

Ditto. If it's unanimous, so be it.

Before tonight, the importance of the regular season was the one semi legitimate position the bcs had. That got shot to hell

yeah but that doesnt discount the fact that bama is clearly the better team and the bcs is bs.
