Who do you consider the national champion this year?

Who do you consider to be the national champion?

Why because there was more media attention? Because it was at a different time of year? Do you realize how stupid that sounds?

At the end of the day they played twice and split. One win does not count more than the other. This isn't soccer

Because it is the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME that both teams agreed to play.

The stupidest thing here is you arguing it doesn't mean anything.

Bama destroyed them. Want a championship? Don't get destroyed. Not a hard concept.

It's not a playoff game, it's an exhibition

its the way they all agreed to crown the NC of D1 cfb. I dont like the fact that basketball plays a 1 and done format instead of a best of series but that doesnt mean I dont recognize the winner of MM as NC. Dont whine because its not what you like

Why? They already beat them once.

Bama is .500 against lsu. Lsu is .500 against bama. The regular season is part of the championship. Not a hard concept.

Part of it, not the end all be all of it. Bama is the legitimate NC. I'm sure LSU fans can take comfort in being named Milohimself National Champions. Hooray!

happens all the time in basketball yet the winner of their post season is crowned NC. No different in fb.

Not a hard concept

Apparently there's only a few people on here that actually understand what I'm advocating (summed up nicely in GahLee's thread), the rest are trolling or just dense.

The Giants lost to the Patriots in the regular season, before beating them in the Super Bowl. Should they split the Super Bowl.

Question for those of you of the opinion that Bama winning in a shutout somehow counts more: Why does that count in any specific measurable way more than LSU getting their W on Bama's home field?

Milo has solid points, anyone saying otherwise is foolish.

Unfortunately, under the flawed system we have, it's Bama. It's basically a one game playoff, with teams that won popularity contests. A team that is 1-10 could have gone in and beat either team and they would be named national champion by virtue of the rules.

Officially, there is no arguing Bama is the champion.

Agreed. Bama was named BCS and AP national champs, which nobody can really dispute because they just were.

What I'm saying is the whole thing is a crock of shat because that one game just rendered the entire 2011 college football season totally useless.

No argument from me, and one would hope from most in this thread.

How many people would feel the same if we had a 4 team playoff consisting of Stanford(didn't win their conf.) vs Bama & LSU vs Okie Lite. LSU & Bama roll, meet up in title game and the same result as last night plays out?

It would be more legit than what we got.

Even a four team playoff changes the dynamic entirely.

Just to clear up on the NFL analogy and why it doesn't work, the biggest difference is that at no point in the NFL season do polls come into the equation. Playoff seeding is based solely on on-the-field results.
