Why would this question be asked on a TN Vol fan website? I’m sure UF fans want our opinion on whom would be the best for their program. If you are bored, ask “ Which coach would we hate to see hired by Gators” or “ What coaching hire would hurt TN the most (obviously not including Heupel) ?”

Keeping Billy in that spot is also a disaster for recruiting. They need new AD and President who can help address their NIL difficulties. They probably need to get a head start on a new coach, preferably one who could bring a good QB with him.

Everything people are saying in this thread is the same stuff people were saying about us before Boyd/Plowman/White/Heupel were hired. They are in a really bad spot right now, but it is recoverable, especially for a school like UF.
It seems "cart before the horse" to not start at the top and work down.

What if the new coach and AD aren't on the same page? What if the UF President wants to go in a different direction with the AD?

Part of floundering for UT was trying exactly what you suggest: let's just get a coach and start there! When the AD isn't capable of hiring good coaches, that's just failure, rinse, repeat.

I'm here for it, but they'd better fix the foundation before they start on the roof.

UF just needs to serve their time in the bottom of the SEC, just hire another terrible coach and I'm happy.

They seem committed to that path and I'm fine with it. With an interim President who won't fire the AD, they will probably hire another iffy coach.

I'm unsure if they've fixed the NIL issues they had but some big donors will sour on dumping money to a bottom feeder in the SEC.

You hate to see it.......

I'm going to go with Butch Jones. Look at the incredible job he's done getting Arkansas State to 2 wins this season. He has an abundance of SEC experience. He's a Saban disciple!

Florida would be missing on the opportunity of a lifetime if they let him slip through their fingers.

How do we vote for Butch
I'll put it on there.

That's what I am suggesting...that they do start at the top and work down.

Sasse resigned on 7/31. They should be getting pretty close to naming an new President. A new President should then be able to hire a new AD fairly quickly, who will hire a HC. All I'm saying is that you could go ahead and fire Billy and the AD now; what are the odds that the new President wants to keep Stricklin? Would you want to hire a President who wanted to keep Stricklin?

Stricklin is who I'd like to see stay, as a Vols fan, but FL should replace him.

Firing Billy in the middle of the season leaves them in a big recruiting and portal nightmare. Players/recruits see: okay, they need a new President, AD, and coach...... so who knows what the program will look like. I don't like that. If guys decide to hit the portal, recruits are going to be really suspicious even with big NIL money.

I think Murdock's suggestion of Bobby Petrino would be a decent hire.

Gus Malzahn from UCF would now technically qualify as a P4 school. been in Florida for a while, so has connections. SEC experience.

Leipold or Klineman would be interesting.

could go back to the Utah well and try to get Kyle Whittingham.

those would be the list of names I wouldn't want to see.

I doubt with a high percentage of certainty you won’t.

I think Kiffin will stay at Mississippi because of his daughter and I think Drinkwits could potentially be a dark horse favorite for this job.
Kiffin will stay because Ole miss will likely be in the playoffs with that schedule. UF can't afford to wait that long with the early signing period.
