Who here has played/play the greatest game on Earth?

For example someone on Rivals kept stating us vol fans need to stop bashing crompton. He is the only player with NFL talent on the team and he ruined his draft status returning for his senior year. Is this ludicrous enough for you?

Yes. But why waste your time wondering if he ever played or not. It just really doesn't matter.

It was 1970 I think, but it wasn't in Knoxville it was in Shelbyville. I played at Charlotte and we beat Whitehouse 18 -0.

I looked it up and it was 1970. This site shows us playing Forrest, must be some new name back then it was Whitehouse.

Optimist Bowl (Shelbyville)
1968: Forrest 7, Moore County 0
1969: Forrest 25, Moore County 6
1970: Charlotte 18, Forrest 0
1971: Lynchburg 6, Cornersville 0

Not really. As people have said before you can play football and be poorly coached to not understand football at all.

Then your thread is a moot point. IMO Maybe you should have asked if anyone has played and what type of "coarching" they received.

I agree it is a waste of time. I just got to thinking and one thing led to another. Besides a lot of threads made in forums are a waste of time but people, including me, still get on here and read posts then respond to them

In the end, this one was better than most. People learned things, questioned things all in a civil matter.

Good luck with the rest of your season.

Wow, I graduated from Whitehouse.

I totally agree on that! Thank you OP

Thanks. and that is what I like to see in threads. I hate responding to someone that is/will be immature when they respond right back. So to everyone who has disagreed with anything that I have said thanks for being mature, logical, and as Business said civil.:clapping:

Oh. Upon further mining of the HSFBDB, it appears that a number of bowls back then were called the Optimist Bowl.

Confusing, really.

The whole set up back then was different. Only had 3 levels, AAA, AA, and A. The state was broken up into regions and only 1 team from each level in each region went to the state playoffs. So, there was only like 6 teams from each level that made the playoffs. They had those bowl games somewhat for other deserving teams that didn't make the states. That year we had 1 loss and 1 tie. There was a team in our region that had 1 loss and no ties so they went to state. The team that beat them was Whitehouse and we beat them pretty bad in the bowl game. Made us feel a lot better.

Sorry I should have added...... and not be named Lou Holtz

I kind of laughed. You can't say you didn't grin.

Fine, fine. You caught me, i chuckled a little bit. Especially trying to picture Lou Holtz playing football...kind of reminded me of "Marty" from Not Another Teen movie...or a slobbering "Rudy"

My father has told me a lot about how it was back in the day. I believe he was on the Knoxville Fulton team that lost to Father Ryan by 1 point in the state championship.

If we are talking about the same Whitehouse there's another team close to where you are from that we played every year, Greenbriar. You talk about a knock down drag out. The Greenbriar/Charlotte game was a head knocker. Everybody came out of that one with blue places all over them.

That would be the same. Blue Devils.

I played 78 thru 82, I didn't mention it earlier because I didn't think it made my opinion more valid. That was a LOOOOONG time ago!

Yeah, he's talking about the same White House. Greenbrier and White House are still big rivals. There is another White House team now,but they are a smaller 2A school.

Forrest is a school located in Chapel Hill,Tn.

Edit: Behr already answered while I was replying.

I played 2 years middle school and 3 years of high school, DT and Gunner on Special teams, I retired after my third year (HS) when they let the woman (also homecoming queen) join the team.
