Who is the best defensive minded coach left on the board?

This is what scares me about Jimbo. Lost to NC State and now GA Tech has the ball down 6and with 2 mins to go and GA beat the hell out of Tech. They can keep Jimbo.

I agree.. I don't like Jimbo.. I don't like the fact he is Hart's buddy.. We ain't hiring buddies.. We are hiring the man that will pull this program from the ashes...

63-17 and still in the third. I figured this to be a tight game, but Wisconsin is just spanking that a$$.

Yeah, Bo has had some tough games during his time at Nebraska.

I think a lot of their fans are ready to move on.

I would honestly call this hire the most important hire since General Neyland. I just hope Hart understands that, this hire cannot fail.

This is the most important hire in the history of UT football. That being said, if i'm Hart i would shoot for the stars. Make the huge names turn you down, at least it shows you are serious about wanting to win.
Going after the guys we are going after just says, meh... he may work...

The reason Bama is where there at is they spent the money, they would not settle until they got the best. I guess we are not to that point yet, after 3 years of DD one would think we would be ready to do most anything for a top coach. It's just so frustrating.

I see you live in Alabama too, i'm in Birmingham, and am sick to death of Bama, it was nice for so many years, then Saban.

I do, I live in Helena. Have been here since '95. Wasnt bad then, we were winning and Ala was sucking and losing to UT. Has been a miserable 6-7 yrs. I just wished Rich Rod had said yes and there is no telling what position Ala is in right now. But I know fans have come out of nowhere since Saban has been there. Hard to deal with and having to pull for ND is going to suck even worse.

The way I understand it their AD wanted/hired Rich Rod and the boosters stepped in, 'over ruled' him, went after and got Saban...

Actually they offered Rich Rod and he said yes. Then right before the press conference he changed his mind after talking to ex Ala coach's and stayed at W. Va then the next yr went to Michigan. Sure wished he had said yes. :(

Been here since 85, grew up through "the streak" and dealt with the Bammers all through school, then came that glorious night in 95 at Legion Field. They were actually tolerable until Saban came to town.

I wish they would have kept Price...lol

You know, if Hamilton would have hired Kelly back in 08 we would most likely be right there with Bama now.

Srong....what he did with Florida's Defense is one reason why they won so much. Their defense was up there year in and year out

Point was Dooley was given the keys to a Benzo and treated it like a Yugo. UT sells and recruits itself and he should have been able to have top ten classes every year and won some top 25 games and beaten our 4 rivals. Kiffin in his only year beat the brakes off GA and Spurrier and played Tebow/Florida well and should have beaten Saban. Dooley never came close to Ala or really Fla and played SC and GA close this yr

What does that have to do with CS?

No offense to the General but I think it's possibly the most important hire in the history of Tennessee football..

I said this several times when the argument to fire Dooley was raging they needed to quit worrying about Dooley and start worrying whether we had the right guy sitting in the AD chair...

At the time some actually thought my point was ridiculous..

Good post.

"The Streak" was actually from '71 - '81 (11 games, 0-11)

"The Streak 2" was from '86 - '94 (9 games, 0-8-1)

I'm only sensitive about it because I was born in '70 and the 2nd 'Bama win in my lifetime came after my 12th birthday.

Yea that was an extremely important hire and Hamilton went with a name and I think if Lane had promised Monte was coming I'm not sure he would have hired him. But I will say that staff with both Kiffins, Coach O, Lance Thompson, Eddie Gran, Chaney and Gruden others was possibly from atleast a recruiting staff was the best college staff ever assembled. Again just from a recruiting standpoint. But that day we offered Dooley we also interviewed Sumlin I wonder what our state of football is under Kevin Sumlin?
