Who is to blame for the past 5 years?

Agree w the fact that football in the south is a way of life. Also agree w the stereotyping concern, but it is a fact that a large percentage of the black population is in the south today and that reality is because of our unfortunate way of life in the early stages of American history.
By the way, it is all on Hamilton![/]

Was Hamilton the person that slacked on recruiting?

Did Hamilton coach the team?

It was not all on Hamilton. If Phil had not become complacent, TN would still be a top 10 team and Phil would still be the HC.

I blame the do nothing repub congress and the clueless people that voted them in. :focus:

I'll take do nothings over dumocrats who want to grow the government and spend our taxdollars on useless stuff like NPR, Amtrak, and acorn. And I work for the government, so believe me, when I say it is too big I mean it cuz I benefit from more job opportunities that a bigger government brings, but the country loses from the overspending. Just go to USAJOBS.OPM and look at how many jobs are being advertised for Department of Agriculture SNAP (food stamp program)...it's really depressing what the socialist dems have done to our country.

I blame whoever thought it was ok to go up against the good teams in the SEC with inferior talent. It's so simple, nobody ever realizes it. If Dooley had better talent on D he would of won more games. But of course it's way more popular to bash any and everything but the true problem. It's all about the talent.

This post is amazing. It truly separates the men from the boys.

People are putting Fulmer in the #1 or #2 spot - the guy who was got this team to Atlanta the year before he was fired? The guy who had a Top Ten recruiting class with a better QB than Bray lined up before he was dismissed mid-season?

The list should be:

1 - 5. Hambone
6. Lane Kiffin
7 - 10. The men who agreed to hire Lane Kiffin

Hambone is FAR AND AWAY most responsible. Kiffin marched through Knoxville like Sherman and burned the program to the ground. Blaming Fulmer for Tebow is childish; even blaming him for Crompton is a stretch.

Twasn't helpful agreed. But I read a study a few years back that indicated that racism was more prevalent in the Midwest than the South. Makes sense, I mean there are way better opportunities for minorities in Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas and Nashville than there are in Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland and Philly.

Fulmer didn't get lazy and complacent. The other traditional SEC powers simply hired competent coaches to replace the duds they had in the 90s. Once Fulmer had to compete against real talent in the SEC coaching ranks, he was exposed. I love the man for all he did for our alma mater, but his great run had more to do with weakness at other programs than his own ability to recruit and gameplan.

I agrree, however only congress can authorize spending and approves the budget and over the last 30 years both parties have controlled congress.

Phil could have left the number one QB prospect in America and TN would still suck after four years of Kiffin and Doofus...Oh wait nevermind, Hamilton wanted that QB for his alma mater.

Man, I wish the poster on this board would use better English in their posts. I Think their posts would more likely be better received if some basic knowledge of proper grammar was reflected in their comments.
Seriously? Which poster and when has the word think been elevated to capitalizing status?

It started when Fulmer tried to implement the spread offense with the memorable Clawfence without the players being able to understand it or even run it. Instead of phasing the concept in, he tried to make it go from day 1 and it flopped. Our recruiting base went to bammer, End of Story!! Why do I think that when we fired Fulmer for trying to beat Florida at their own game and hired the next two up and coming morons who were the next comings, we come up with Butch Jones and Clawfence!
